Sustaining your Vision

Text: Habakkuk 2:1-3

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry (KJV).

Introduction: Everyone is created to be vision-driven. What gives you hope for your future is vision. Life progresses and destinies are fulfilled by the vision and also depreciates by lack of it( Proverbs 29:18). Vision is a time table of life’s progress and when you follow it diligently, it speaks for your greatness. In life, people misinterpret DREAMS TO VISION and vice versa.

DREAM is a series of images, events, and feelings in your mind while you are asleep. Sometimes what we see in a dream is unrealistic, empty, and irrelevant.

VISION is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.

It’s beyond dream. It is the revelation of the secret( Daniel 2:19). Vision is the birth of the future.

Vision is embodied with an idea, a goal, and aspiration. It is always true but follows a process; either you live to fulfill it or it gets fulfilled after you; depending on God’s timing and your involvement (action) towards it.

1: Can a Vision expire or die?

2:What happens when one dies without fulfilling his vision

3: How can I know it is a true Vision?

We shall give answers to those questions towards the end of this message.

To sustain means to maintain or keep in existence.

Date/Time of the Vision ( Hab. 2:2)- Time moves to Life. Everything under heaven is governed by TIME. From creation, God first made use of time for us to emulate

N/B: When you receive a vision either through a dream or trance, write the date and the time you received it. Though you may not understand or interpret it at the onset, write it down first!

At the early stage of my ministry, I used to have a book that I record the date and time of Revelations received from God. With time some of them have come to pass.

2: THE CONTENT (Hab.2:2) This scripture command that you write it down i.e the content of the vision. You can only write what you can describe…….” that he that runneth may read it”.

What interests people and even you is not the date or time you received it but the content. Whether you understand it at the early stage or not, write it down. Joseph didn’t understand the content of the vision at his earlier age in Genesis chapter 37 until it began unfolding with time.

DATE/TIME OF FULFILMENT- The book of Ezekiel chapter 1-3 reveals the Vision of Babylonian exile by King Nebuchadnezzar. All of these came to pass. God also promised a time of freedom in Isaiah 40:2.

Therefore, every Vision needs documentation.

1- For Notification and Remembrance.  Vision needs to be revisited. When you write it down it stirs you up and also comes fresh in your mind as at the first time you saw it.

Listen to this story… A Bishop from the Eastern part of Nigeria had a vision about his present-day Church Cathedral in 1993. At that time he was poor and squatting in a room apartment with his family. So when he got the vision at about 3 am, he woke up and shared it with the wife, and in disbelief, the wife asked him to write it down so that they could sleep. He did so and about 15years later it became a reality.

2 – To remind God in Prayers. Prayers and hard work are two unavoidable elements in fulfilling the vision. When you pray, you’re reminding God to fulfill what he has shown you in a vision. The name of our church Hedge Builders Int’l Ministry Inc came as a vision. God showed me a scripture in Ezekiel 22:30 and as I woke up, he said to me ” undertake the task” so I wrote it down and in. This was in 2006 and in 2014 it became a reality.

3 – As evidence to yourself and people who may live to see the actualization and also to some other people that may argue the vision.

N/b: vision has owners; the receiver ( one whom it came through). There is vision you receive just for yourself and others that are meant for other people.

Many things are involved in the fulfillment and failure of vision. I believe these few points will help you.

1: Background/foundation- There is nothing that chokes a vision than background and foundation. An example is Jephtha in Judges 11:1-2 and also Joseph in Genesis 37. Until you conquer the powers of your background you can’t fulfill your vision because the forces will try to tell you nobody has achieved this in this place so you can’t! I have seen a young man who saw a vision of becoming the first graduate in his father’s house, finally, he got admission into a university after about 7 years of repeatedly writing exams but in his second year, he died.

2- Environment – Vision do not adapt to all environment. When you receive a vision, work towards studying and locating the place of its fulfillment. Don’t be a man who went to learn how to trade on motor spare parts and at the time of starting his own, he went and pay for a shop in the midst of those that sell foodstuffs and cosmetics on a claim that the rentage for motor spares are costly; so definitely his vision must crash. In some cases, the environment to achieve our vision must be expensive. Joseph was to fulfill his vision in Egypt not in Israel. So not until he gets there, nothing happens.

4: People- Your association determines your acceleration. Whom you follow to determine who follows you. In Isaiah 6:5, when God opened the eyes of Isaiah, he Cried when he realized he was in the midst of people with undone and unclean lips.

For you to fulfill your vision, look for the like. And the same goes for marriages. Marry a man or woman that has the same Vision with you.

5: Your Interpreter- the worst doom is to have an enemy interpret your vision. The person that interprets your vision matters a lot to your life. Be watchful of who you share your vision with and who interpret it. Some fellow may run ahead of you and publish it because they have the resources.

6: Yourself- your attitude definitely direct your vision. To have a vision is primary but the penultimate is to work towards it. In 2 Kings 2:1-18 is a story of Elijah and Elisha. Elisha was not the only son of the prophet but he knew his vision and future were in his hands.

Vision + Mission= FUTURE and Vision – Mission = MISFORTUNE

So every Vision is attached to some mission (work) to produce the future.

To be able to sustain, let the vision drive you, allow it to persuade you, and give it thought and thorough work towards actualizing it. Whether in circular, the social or religious aspect of life follows these principles:

– Understand the Vision first

– Document it, write it down with date, time, and state the content.

– Pray always towards it.

– Get like – minds ” He may run that readeth it” those are the front runners of the Vision. They will understand it and pursue it with passion even though they are not the vision bearers.

– A good interpreter i.e a human guild to the vision. Either a Coach, Mentor, or Father.

– Be consistent. Don’t give up.

Answers to our previously asked questions

1: Yes vision expires and also dies. Because everything that has to do with time can expire or die off. Hold and pursue your vision accordingly.

2: In case the vision bearers die, there is a possibility of the vision being alive and that is why the Bible asked that you write it down so that people will understand it and run with it. There are visions that their time is meant to be fulfilled when the vision bearer has gone home. In vision fulfillment, there are some that bring the vision to the limelight while some actualize it.

3: a true vision appears very bigger than your imagination. Some put you in awe, fear, and also happiness. At this point what you need is prayers and focus and God will help you in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Let us pray…..

The Voice Of Time

Text: Esther 2: 13-17

Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.  2:15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.  2:16 So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.  2:17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

Time is one of the most necessary ingredients in life. It is like a moving vehicle, constantly on its speed that someone has to load in his luggage as it runs. What you load into it is what it carries. It is also like a computer that it processes the data you put into it and gives you the required output.

Therefore, everything under the sun is governed by TIME Ecclesiastes 3:1 says”  To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven,”

God was able to create the universe by placing value on time. When you live a life outside time, you loose your portion in life. Time they say ” waits for nobody”

In life, everyone has his or her own time table. The time of A to manifest is never the time for B to manifest. By timing, 12: o’clock and 1: o’clock can’t operate at the same time; one has to wait for its turn. Likewise, the sun and the moon can’t shine at the same time. You must operate under the time and purpose designated for you and that’s why when the time comes for the sun to voice out in the day, it comes up and likewise the brightness of the moon at night.

Note: The voice of time can’t miss it’s priority. That is( what it is designed for)

Therefore our central theme says ” the voice of time” which means there is always a time for the voice to be heard. Destinies has voiced that it is attached to time and when the fullness comes; it must speak.

The voice of time is like pregnancy that even if it is delayed, at the fullness of it, it speaks. Conversely, don’t kill yourself when you watch others enjoying or operating on their own TIME. In life no matter how hard you try, if it’s not yet your time you can’t get nothing. Destinies are seen when their time voices out. Just wait for it! Habbakuk 2:3.

Our anchor text talks about an ordinary maiden who was a nobody but when her turn came, she ended up as a Queen. Simply because her time voiced out!

Just as discussed earlier, in between your TIME is a process.

Life is just like a staircase that you have to climb it step by step because if you try to jump it, you will fall.

Everyone must not reach at the peak of life at the same time. Some may be at the ‘THERE’ of their destiny while you watch them at the ‘ HERE’ of your destiny, don’t give up but rather be focused and consistent with what you do. The different between ‘THERE’ and ‘HERE’ is the letter ‘T’ and that letter ‘T’ is TIME. So learn to mind your TIME.

In Judges 11:4, Jephthah was humiliated among his brethren but he went on to PROCESS his time. Time processed would definitely voice out but when you fail to process your time, you end up becoming a spectator.

Moreso, when you understand the timing of life, you will realize that everyone, both the rich and poor share the same 24hours per day and same 12 months per year but how you process your own time determine the class you may fall into ( either the rich or poor class).

Note: In between your time is a process and while you are processing your time, there must be oppositions and several experiences but your self-confidence would secure your Time. In Psalms 24:4, it was at the verge David was processing his Time that he shouted: “Though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil”.

He completely activated his self-confidence and he became a Victor.

The voice of time is the Glory from several stories. It is the payback time and the report card from the total input in processing Time. It’s true that before this stage some may give up. The two great keys to getting this stage are PATIENCE and CONSISTENCY

PATIENCE: Is the ability to stay and accept a delay or to accept something without complaining.

So with this virtue in place, you press forward in processing your own time.

CONSISTENCY: Is the quality of always behaving in the same way or of having the same opinions or standard.

These two words keeps you going not minding what people say or the result so far at the processing of your Time

We read from our anchor text Esther 2:15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.

You will notice that when your Turn comes, everyone and everything looks to your direction, you stop labouring like others, little efforts yield much fruit that even mistakes are neglected ( Esther 2:13).

The evidence that your turn has come is that your Time must voice out GRACE and FAVOUR. You become an extraordinary, and your life become a wonder that people will be attracted to you.

In this life don’t condemn anyone who is at the process of his Time because this life is turn by turn. It may be your turn today but don’t forget that someone else ‘s could be tomorrow. No leader or president ever occupy a seat of power forever. You may be there today while another is processing his own Time to take over from you. In all, speak well with everyone and understand that this life is turn by turn.

– At one Time Jacob was a servant in the house of his father in law (Laban), and at another Time he became the father of a prime minister.

– At one Time, Hannah was mocked and called Barren and at another Time he became the mother of a prophet/ a leader who led those that mocked his mother in Time past.

– At one time, Obed Edom was the poorest of the poor and at another Time he became one of the richest man in Jerusalem.

– At one time, Joseph was a prisoner and at another Time he became a prime minister even to those that put him in prison in Time past.

– At one Time, Job lost all that he had and at another time he got double restoration of those things he had lost.

– At one time, Peter was a Fisherman and at another Time he became a frontier Apostle.

– At one time, David was a shepherd boy and at another time he became a great King in Israel.

I prophesy to you; your turn has come and the voice of your Time speaks out in Jesus name. Amen

Topic: You can initiate healing

Scripture: Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed.

God wants you to be well. Some people say, ” if God wants me well why doesn’t He heal me?” Well, although God may initiate healings on His own, some of the time that is not the main way that God heals.

You can initiate healing yourself. You don’t have to wait for God to initiate it. You can claim what belongs to you based on His word.

I know what belongs to me. I claim what belongs to me based on the word of God. Health and healing belong to me. Thank you father for health and healing.

Topic: The Truth Shall Make You Free

Scripture: And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free–John 8: 32

Jesus is the truth, and Satan is the oppressor.

Sickness comes from Satan–who is the author of it, not God. You see, the more truth you get into you the freer you will be. You will know the truth and the truth will make you free.

It is God’s will that I will be well. It is God’s will that I be healed. It is God’s will that I walk in health. It is His will that I will not be oppressed by the devil. Sickness is satanic oppression, for sickness comes from the devil. It is not the will of God that I as His child be under the dominion of Satan – under the dominion of sickness and disease. Jesus took my infirmities and bore my sickness. And because He bore them. I am free; I am healed. Jesus is the healer.
