We are Not Collecting Levies From Shop Owners-ENTRACO

Apparently dismayed at the level of sponsored blackmails targeted at him, the General Manager, Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission ( IMO ENTRACO),  Hon. Ebere Macdonald Kelechi has denied a news story in one of the Owerri based tabloids captioned ” Imo ENTRACO Dares Govt. Collects Levies from shop owners ” where it was alleged that he has embarked on the issuance of  Consolidated Demand Notice to offices and shop owners in Owerri and its environs.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media Mr. Emma Madumere, yesterday in Owerri, the ENTRACO GM, Hon Ebere MacDonald Kelechi, who described the recent sponsored media attack on him from his detractors as a calculated attempt to tarnish his image before the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, stressed that there is no iota of truth in the entire news story.

He averred that for the reporter to have cited the purported letter in question with the name of the person that signed it without making reference to the date of the letter, or calling on him to hear from him clearly shows that the news story lacks the basic ingredients of a news item of accuracy, objectivity, and honesty.

Ebere who noted that the last time Barr. Mary Onyeka signed a document on his behalf was on the 6th of March,2020, explained that for the reporter to have linked his news to the last week state government directives on the suspension of all forms of revenue collection shows that the whole effort of the writer and his sponsor were to blackmail him and possibly cause disaffection between him and the governor whom he said holds him in high esteem.

The youthful ENTRACO GM who used the occasion to caution journalists to carry out their job with utmost care devoid of bias, declared that ENTRACO under his leadership has been rebranded in line with the shared prosperity agenda of the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

It would be recalled that an Owerri based tabloid, EASTERN LEAD EXPRESS on it’s Wednesday edition of  May 20, 2020, in their front-page filler story captioned ” Imo ENTRACO Dares Govt. Collects Levies from shop owners ” alleged that ENTRACO is collecting #5000 from shop owners in Owerri.
