Uzodinma’s Planned Reception: Nwoke Dike Berates Opara, Describes Utterances As Empty Threats



One of the Leaders of the APC in Imo and Owerri zone in particular, Chief Bona Nwoke Dike has berated the president General of Olu Owerri, Martin Opara over his recent utterance regarding the planned reception of Governor Hope Uzodinma by Owerri Zone people.

Opara had in a recent interview to Journalists, cautioned Owerri people over the planned reception for Governor Uzodinma.

In a press release signed by Nwoke Dike and made available to Lead, he described the threats by Opara as empty adding that he lacks the power to dictate for Adults the political parties to belong amongst othersAn All Progressives Congress, APC, Ieader, Hon Bona Nwoke Dike, has lambasted the President General of Olu Owerri, a Socio-Cultural Orgnanization in Owerri Zone, Chief Maftin Opara because of his comment on the planned reception of Governor Hope Uzodinma by the APC in Owerri Zone.

Chief Opara, had in an interuiew, described the planned reception as a slap on the faces of the people of Owerri zone, “a dance on the grave of their ancestors”, and therefore warned them against it or be ostracized. Reacting to the statement, yesterday, in Owerri, the Ngor Okpala-born, United States of America – trained technocrat, and administrator, berated Chief Opara, reminding him that the nation’s constitution allows freedom of association, warning that his comment was capable of causing a breach of the peace/ as well, an infringement on the fundamental right of the people.

According to Hon Nwoke Dike: “His invoking the spirit of the ancestors and threatening to ostracize bona-fide sons and daughters of the soil, to say the least is unfortunate and unexpected of a man who had held the high office of Director General, Imo State Orientation Agency”.

He was emphatic that the members of APC in Owerri zone have the right to organize a reception for the governor and that no amount of blackmail or threat will stop them, stressing that there cannot be two governors in a state at the same time.

Chief Nwoke Dike, went further to advice Chief Opara and others to desist from calling Governor Hope Uzodinma a Supreme Court governor, because he is not the first governor to be declared so in Nigeria and will not be the last. He gave other examples of past supreme court declared governors like Peter Obi, Adams Oshomole, Rotomi Amaechi and others. Nwoke Dike .1 had wished that Chief Opara will retract his comment and offer an apology to the people of Owerri zone.

Hon. Bona Nwoke Dike, went on to commend the governor on his 3R mantra of rehabilitation, reconstruction and recovery of the state, and urged Imo people to give the governor their unalloyed support to actualize his vision for the state.

Giving an insight on the planned reception, Hon. Nwoke Dike, said the it will attract top notchers of the party from within and beyond the state and urged APC members of Owerri zone extraction not to be scared of Chief Martin Opara’s empty threats. He concluded that Chief Martin Opara is been used by enemies of Governor Hope and APC present government in the state.

55-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Jos



The police in Plateau state have arrested a 55-year-old man, Abdulhamid Sale, pictured above for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Bukuru community of Jos South local government area.

A youth leader in the community, Aliyu Hassan, said the suspect was arrested after one of the mothers of his victim reported the matter to members of the vigilante group in the community.

“The arrest of the suspect came after a report by a mother to one of the victims to the vigilante group in the area that she saw her daughter with a phone and felt that something was wrong.

After a thorough investigation, we found out that the phone was given to the girl by the said Abdulhamid Sale, and further checks revealed that he raped seven girls, mostly 13 years old in Kugiya area of Bukuru, who are mostly hawkers, by luring them with as little as 50 Naira, and small Tecno Phones”Aliyu said

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said the suspect is in the custody of the police and would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.

#EndSARS: Court stops prosecution of Pastor Sam Adeyemi, Davido, and others



A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory has stopped the prosecution of Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre, Burna Boy, Davido, Falz, activist Deji Adeyanju and others over the #EndSARS protest. 

The High Court ordered a Magistrate court to immediately stop proceedings and stay action against 50 persons who supported the #EndSARS protests, following a criminal complaint filed by lawyer Kenechuhwu Okeke. 

Okeke in his suit alleged that during the riot,  properties were destroyed and the defendants who promoted the #EndSARS protests must be held responsible for it and also brought to justice.

Justice Bello Kawu who delivered a judgment on the application filed by Activist Deji Adeyanju (one of the defendants) for a judicial review of the substantive matter before the magistrate, said; 

“An order of this honourable court granting leave to the application to issue and serve on the defendant an application for judicial review against the proceedings/direct criminal complaint of Hon. Omolola Tolulope Akindele sitting at Chief Magistrate Court II, Wuse Zone 6 in the suit of Kenechukwu Okeke Vs Deji Adeyanju and 49 others in suit No. CR/49/2020.

“An order of this honourable court, that on the grant of the above orders herein, serve as stay of all proceedings on the direct criminal complaint Omolola Tolulope Akindele sitting at Chief Magistrate Court II, Wuse Zone 6 in the suit of Kenechukwu Okeke Vs Deji Adeyanju and 49 others in suit no. CR/49/2020.

“An order of this honourable court, that on the grant of the above orders herein, same order as granted by the honourable court shall restrain the Nigeria Police Force, 2nd and 3rd defendants from taking any further steps, arresting and or taking any unconstitutional/illegal steps in the form of any guise as it concerns the subject matters whatsoever before this court herein as it concerns all parties in the proceedings.”
