The least is yet to be heard in Imo following the compulsory wearing of face masks order by Imo State Government.
It was a black Thursday in Orlu precisely at Banana junction in Amaifeke Orlu where a young man was said to have been shot dead by yet to be identified police officer for non-wearing of face mask.
Residents of Banana junction in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state were thrown into a heavy shock, as a police officer among other officers stationed at Banana junction, allegedly shot an okada rider to death, because he wasn’t wearing a facemask and did not give the officer bribe as demanded.
According to an eye witness, who would not want his name on the paper, a policeman among others stationed at Banana junction, demanded the young man( okada rider) to show his facemask and give reasons why he wasn’t wearing it, adding that along the line the officer started demanding money from him and when he failed to give him the money, His keys were seized when he was unable to pay them any money, another officer shot him to death.
Even as he maintained, while the young man insisting to be given his key back another policeman pumped bullets into his body killing him instantly.the policeman according to the eye witness is a Hausa man, he released the bullet at close range into the young man, killing him instantly. pointing out that, the officer, sensing danger and fearing being lynched, he started shooting sporadically into the air to scare people.
As at the time of filing this report Orlu Youths had gathered threatening to burn down the police state in the area.
