U-Best Condemns Report On Araraume, Oshmiohole

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and close associate and confidant of Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Hon Jerry Ukachukwu Nwokoro, a successful businessman, MD/CEO of UBEST FOUNDATION has taken a swipe on a local tabloid based in Owerri the lmo state capital, Announcer Express Newspaper for its inciting publication on the Appeal court judgment affirming the suspension of Adams Oshimhole as APC National Chairman.

The Owerri based Newspaper had on its 19th June 2020 Edition, published that members of Araraume and Rochas Okorocha camp were thrown into wild jubilation upon hearing that appeal court had affirmed the suspension of Adams Oshimhole as a member and National Chairman of APC.

Irked by the scathing remarks which he said is not only mischievous but misleading and unguarded, Hon Jerry Ukachukw Nwokoro who is a prominent member of senator Araraumes Destiny Organisation stated thus, “I am a strong member of destiny Organisation and at no time, did the organization as a group or any individual celebrate the ouster of Adams Oshimhole by the Appeal Court.” he enthused.

Instead, he expressed discomfort that the APC crisis has continued to fester beyond the skirmishes in Edo state. He, therefore, condemned the Announcer Express Publication as unfortunate, unfounded, frivolous, a lie from the pit of hell capable of eliciting bad blood among the leaders of the party who is most cases enjoy the confidence, support, and respect of Senator Araraume.

He cautioned and called on newspaper reporters to always cross-check their facts before going to press to avoid a repeat of the extant issue on the ground or their practice labeled as yellow journalism or hack writers.

The Ekwedim Amauzari Isiala Mbano born philanthropist added that there has never been a rift, dispute or misunderstanding between Araraume, Oshimhole, and Governor Hope Uzodinma to warrant such senseless publication or altercation as portrayed by Announcer Express and wondered why the management of the Newspaper or the Editor did not bother to reach out to senator Araraume, any of his supporters or media aide to seek clearance, clarification or reaction to the Appeal Court judgment before going public.

He described as blackmail and in very strong terms such as resort to frivolities for monetary sake by some journalists.

On the yet to be announced Okigwe Senatorial Election, Hon Jerry Nwokoro reiterated his earlier stand that senator Ifeanyi Araraume remains Heads and shoulders taller and above his contemporaries and opponents.

He called on the people of the area to see Araraume as the best bet and sure banker as far as effective representation and purposeful leadership are concerned.

It is against this backdrop that he contended that come what may, Araraume in the eyes of Progressives is and remains the only sure bet if elected to represent lmo North in the senate that will attract elusive dividends to Okigwe zone which for the past 12 years or more has been lacking.

He berated all those who wish to stand on Araraume’s way or pose as a stumbling block to show their scorecards or what concrete contributions/achievements they have been able to bring to Okigwe zone beyond personal and selfish aggrandizement.

He urged our amiable Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to see those critics of Senator Araraume as political jobbers and enemies of our dear state, who do not mean well and are allergic to his provision of the dividends of democracy to lmolites as the duo of Senator Araraume and himself Governor Uzodinma working together will transform the socio-economic development of our dear lmo state. He prayed God to bless our Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Adams Oshimhole, Distinguishes Senator Araraume, and finally lmo state.

Stop Buhari from selling national assets, National Assembly urged

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) urged President Ahmed Lawan of the Senate and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila of the House of Representatives to stop President Buhari from selling public assets to finance the budget for 2021.

Instead of selling national properties, SERAP charged the government with cutting the wages and allowances of senior officials to resolve the rising deficit and borrowing rate.

In a letter signed by the Deputy Director of the CSO, Kolawole Oluwadare, dated 16 January 2021, the organization claimed that the National Assembly has a statutory and supervisory duty to protect valuable public property and to ensure responsible budgetary spending.

It noted that the disposal of valuable public assets to finance the budget was not in the public interest and would be counter-productive, as corruption and mismanagement would be vulnerable to action.

It will disrupt the social contract with Nigerians, leave the government worse off, and damage the nation in the long run, the rights group added.

It called for a freeze on spending for members of the legislature and the presidency in some parts of the budget, such as poverty and furniture allowances, entertainment allowances, foreign travel, purchasing vehicles and utilities.

The letter enjoined the legislature to closely scrutinize and work with the presidency to address the current process of budgeting and address systemic corruption.
