Professor Njoku said that this pandemic can be overcome through resolute and collective efforts as it portends a clear and present danger to people. The Deputy Governor described the actions of His Excellency the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma as well thought out and timely, noting that Imo state is among the first states to take proactive measures in defence of its people by effecting a lockdown that resisted the entrance of the dreaded coronavirus into Imo state for a credible length of time. Aside from the lockdown, His Excellency the Deputy Governor noted the follow up to this by the Governor who put in place state of the art Isolation in six places across the state with the ultra-modern
Isolation centre in Owerri. Government, he noted, would go on to provide hundreds of thousands of hands sanitisers free to people across the state to provide immediate personal defence for Imo people. The Governor would go ahead to quickly react to the heavy impact of the lockdown on Imo people by bringing in trailer loads of yam, rice. Noodles and other food items which were distributed across communities in Imo state.
His Excellency the Deputy Governor would note that the good health of Imo people is the number one priority of Senator Hope Uzodinma, which has had the Governor working round the clock with his team and members of the covid19 taskforce ably led by world-renowned virologist Prof Maurice Iwu to analyse, identify, and proffer workable solutions for Imo people against the threat of the coronavirus pandemic which has infected millions globally and killed hundreds of thousands of people all over the world.
Professor Njoku said that as devout and committed Catholics, the Governor and himself have gone to God in prayers to heal the land, save Ndi Imo all to the glory of God. The Deputy Governor would further assure the donors that the lorry load of items would be strictly distributed to the poorest persons in our communities, stressing that the present concern of the government is the protection of all Imo sons and daughters while looking after the well-being of the very poor and vulnerable in the communities.
Charging the people to completely support Governor Hope Uzodinma, Prof Placid Njoku said that only a united , committed and focused army can defeat a well-armed and dangerous enemy which the COVID 19 pandemic is. He therefore urged all and sundry to rally behind the government to enable it deliver on its very clear vision of shared prosperity which follows with health been wealth.
