SAUDI ARABIA BANS UNDERAGE MARRIAGE
By Godwin Ogar
The Ministry of Justice in Saudi Arabia has banned the marriage of persons under the age of 18.
The chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of Saudi Arabia, who is also the Minister of Justice, Sheikh Walid Al-samaani, made this known in a circular sent to all courts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the minimum age for those who intend to marry is now from 18 and above.
Meanwhile, in Nigeria, The Senate is pushing for under-aged married persons to be allowed to vote during elections, a move that has been strongly criticised by many Nigerians.
