One of the chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in IMO, Dr. Ikenna Ihezuo has commended the Executive Governor of IMO State, senator Hope Uzodinma for assenting to the Bill, seeking abrogation of the pension laws, which grants, the former Governors, Deputy Governors, speakers of the State House of Assembly as well as the Deputy Speakers, the powers to receive pensions amongst other entitlements.
Speaking to the midweek Lead, Dr. Ihezuo, a legal practitioner in IMO pointed out that with the Uzodinma’s assent to the said Bill, even when he would become a beneficiary to it after his tenure has shown in no small measures that he is out to better the lots of IMO people and will indeed restore the eroding glory of the state in the area of good governance.
He further posited that Governor Uzodinma has done what other former Governors did not do for selfish reasons.
While calling on IMO people to remain supportive of the present administration which according to him has the capacity to move the state beyond the shores of poverty and maladministration, the legal luminary who contested the Orlu federal House of Representatives seat in the 2019 elections assured the Governor of the support of Orlu people to his government.
The IMO State House of Assembly led by Chiji Collins had last Thursday, passed into law, the Executive Bill, seeking abrogation of the pension laws which authorized the former Governors amongst others to be receiving pensions after their stay in the office.
The IMO State Government has not ceased to receive encomiums for it’s ascent to the said Bill.
