Prof. Nwana Ndubueze TO Be Buried Dec. 18

Foremost Educationist and accomplished Academic Prof Obioha Chima Nwana (more popularly known as Prof. O.C Nwana) passed on in the United States, Prof Nwana.

Born 1934 in Eluoma, Isukwuato, he was educated at the University of London, University of Legon in Ghana, University of Sydney in Australia and the University of Ibadan U.I (where he obtained his Phd) respectively.

He started his academic career at Nigeria Premier University, the U.I, rising to become a Professor of Education before he was 40.  He was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Imo State University Owerri respectively.  He was also visiting Professor at the University of Wales, Cardiff UK as well as the Abia State University.

In the course of his career as a professional educator, he was bestowed with several awards, including, Fellowship of the Nigeria Academy of Education (FNAE),  Fellowship of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria  (FSTAN), Merit Award of the National Teachers Institution (Merit NTI) amongst others.

An ardent culturalist, a repository of Aro heritage and history, he is at home with all the major Igbo dialects.  He holds traditional titles of Ugwu Aro, Omekaibeya of Arondizuogu, Okenwa Ideato and Okaa Nkuzi of Nsukka.

His father Rt Rev Chima Nwana OFR was the 1st ordained Igbo Methodist Priest. Prof Nwana himself was a Knight of John Wesley  of the Methodist Church and Knight of St Christopher in the  Anglican Church.

 He has authored many books , notably Educational Research for Teachers, Evaluation and Measurements            , History of Arondizuogu, Memoires of an Insider etc

Prof Nwana has in the past been Chairman, National Library Board, Director, Curriculum Development and Instructional Materials Center (CUDIMAC), Director, Nigeria Educational Research Council (NERC), Chairman, Interim Council of the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Enugu, Board Member, Nigeria Teachers Institute (NTI) Zaria, Chairman, Presidential Special Visitation Panel to University of Lagos,  Chairman, Imo State, Scholarship Board, Chairman, Investigation Panel on Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Member, East Central State Education Commission, Member, Investigation Panel on ABU, Member, East Central State Scholarship Board.

He will be buried on the 18th of December, 2020, at his Ndianiche Country Home in Arondizuogu, Imo State.

He is survived by Prof Mrs O.C Nwana, children and several grandchildren.

Okoroafor Marries traditionally, Achonu, others Grace Occasion

Younger brother to a well-known oil magnet in Imo State and Nigeria as a whole Dr. sir Chidiebere Okoroafor, Kenneth Maduabuchi Okoroafor has traditionally married his heartthrob Mirian Nwabuiheoma. The event that took place at the compound of Igbokwe’s family recently attracted important personalities from within and outside the state.

Speaking during the event, Professor Chuks Nathan Nwaobi urged the couple to always understand each other, adding that understanding will make the marriage last long He disclosed that though there will be ups and downs they should keep understanding, tolerating, and respecting each other.

Contributing, Chief Sir Herold Agim and victor Amaefule described traditional marriage as one of Igbo culture, noting that it was one of the things the Igbos don’t play with. Adding his voice, the immediate past House of Assembly member of Ehime Mbano state constituency, Hon. Lawman Duruji advised the couple to always settle by themselves whenever they have issues and never to bring a third party, noting that with that their marriage will last very long In his speech, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Princewill Danial Osigwe urged the couple to always be honest to each other, noting that he will continue to advise them about marriage from time to time.

He said that the Okoroafor family has been so good to him, stressing that, that was why he left all he was doing to come and chaired the occasion. It was gathered that Dr. Sir Chidiebere Okoroafor and his colleagues in the oil business in their usual way also made the event to be colorful. Dignitaries who attended the event included: Senator Attan Nneji Achonu, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, HRH Eze Samuel Okeke (Eze Chimere Chioke 1) of Umuchioke Umuduruokoro Umunumo, HRH Eze Emmanuel Ibechi (Akagu 1 of Umuakagu), and others.

Oluzurumee Youth Bestows Award On FUTO V.C

The leadership of orluzurumee youth assembly,  paid an unscheduled visit to Profesor Francis Chukwuemeka Eze, JP, KSJI, ( Awelle 1 Of Amanato) and the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Owerri(FUTO)  and honor him with an award of outstanding performance(Hope of the youths).

The National President of Orluzurumee youth assembly Comr. Engr. Sylvester Anyikwa  in his remarks, thanked the Vice-chancellor for the warm reception , he went further encourage the academic guru to keep up the good works that he is known for, especially in the area of youth development and empowerment and that as a molders of the youth, that through the university system that the VC has been instrumental in producing responsible youths and have through the institution provided number of jobs to the unemployed youths.

The elated Professor Eze in a vote of thanks, thanked orluzurumee youth assembly for finding  him worthy to be honored, that the award is going to encourage  him to work header, he also added ‘that the reward for good work is more work’ he however enjoined the association to keep up with the good works especially on youth advocacy in the zone and beyond.

Okafor Lauds Uzodinma Over New VC

The founding Editor-in-Chief of IMSU Star Newspaper and also a solicitor in Imo State, Barr. Daniel Okafor has extolled the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, over the appointment of Prof. Peter Akah as the new Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University Owerri, Imo State.

According to him, Prof. Peter Akah who is a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is the best thing that has happened since the history of the institution.

He further said that the erudite scholar will bring his wealth of experience to bear, by transforming the school into a redefined citadel of learning and IMSU will have no option than to bounce back to its lost glory. 

“Indeed Gov. Uzodinma has done very well by appointing a top-notch, respectful professor for the position of VC IMSU. This is a timely intervention; I am calling on all Imo Stars, lecturers, staff of the university to commend our Governor on this New Year gift.” He asserted.

He seized the opportunity to inform all those in Egede Club to stay clear of the Vice Chancellor, stressing that the new VC has come to work not to join any club.
