PDP Lawmaker Ejiogu Off-Sets N1.2m Hospital Bill Of Constituent



Owerri North House of Assembly Member and Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Philip Ejiogu has not ceased to receive encomiums for settling Hospital Bill of one of the constituents to the tune of 1.2million Naira. Ejiogu who recently was rated as one of the persons who took good care of the constituents particularly the indigents ones during the outbreak of coronavirus in Imo was said to be moved by the passion upon receiving the news of a constituent who was unable to pay for the hospital bill.

Speaking to Weekend Announcer after observing the humanitarian service carried out by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Owerri North House member, one Mrs. Florence  Nnadozie who hails from Azaraegbelu in Owerri North LGA described the gesture as laced with spiritual connotation, declaring that when a man with milk of human kindness practically demonstrates it, according to her, it should not be mistaken for politics.

The Owerri North female constituent expressed gratitude to the vibrant Lawmaker for heeding to the promptings of his spirit, adding that his likes are rare in the clime. Mrs. Nnadozie further expressed delight that the people of Owerri North were lucky to have entrusted their mandate this time to a youth who has the interest of his people at heart.

In his own, Chief Jonathan Mezie from Naze and Mrs. Roseline Chikeka from Emekuku in same Owerri North LGA who were spotted at the hospital facility applauded the act of philanthropy demonstrated by the young lawmaker, praying God to gift the area with the likes of Hon Ejiogu who has shoved aside political divide in discharging his duties as one duly elected by the entire Owerri North.

The duo who barred their minds separately when our reporter ran into them at the hospital, stated that for any politician elected by his people to represent them at the seat of power to have put eyes on the ground to discover that there could be indigent patients who can not foot their medical bills should be applauded and not be taken for granted, vowing to always show their support, loyalty, and solidarity to the lawmaker when the need arises, while enjoining him to keep up his good work.

It will be recalled that Hon Philip Ejiogu fondly addressed by his constituents and beyond as ‘Mr. Integrity’ as well as a man imbued with the compassionate heart of gold had proven his people’s stance on him, when he among other philanthropic gestures, restored hope in the lives of his indigent constituents, Mr. Emmanuel Amarachi from Umuakaliukwu Autonomous Community who had his limb amputated by clearing his medical bill which stood at N500,000.

The Lawmaker was said to have equally cleared the hospital bills of Mrs. Grace Igwe from Umuna Emii ‘detained’ after child delivery with an outstanding bill of N200,000, as well as that of Mr. Arinze lrechukwu’s wife from Emekuku who had serious complications before and after delivery amounting to N300,000, not excluding a woman from Uratta who underwent manor surgery but could not offset the hospital which brought the sum to over N1.2 million.

It will be also recalled that Hon Philip Ejiogu who will be clocking one calendar year in office this weekend beyond representation, has carried out to the letter the duties of lawmaking and oversight, as he is rated one of the most visible and vibrant lawmakers in the 9th House in spite of his opposition status.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo faction in solidarity with IPOB’s security network to secure Igboland



Chidi Ibeh, Ohanaeze Ndigbo-led factional leader has declared that it will help the IPOB Eastern Security Network and other indigenous security agencies to stop any sort of crime in the South-East region.

Ibeh, in a statement by Secretary-General Kalu Mkpa, a media assistant to the factions, noted that the body’s leadership has moved to put all stakeholders in Igbo land on the same page, including Southeast Governors, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and youths, in order to defend the territorial integrity of the Igbo nation against invasion by herdsmen and extremists.

Recall that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had launched the Eastern Security Network, ESN. He had said “ESN was formed to protect the Southeast from marauding Fulani herdsmen and other criminal elements.”

In Sunday’s declaration, the Ibeh-led group stated, “whether it is called the IPOB Eastern Security Network or the proposed Southeast Governors’ or Ogbunigwe Joint Security Office, we will ensure that potential invasions from outside will be stopped without further delay.”

Ibeh said it would assist in the full realization of “Enyimba Economic City” Aba, the reconstruction of the Enugu coal mine, the resuscitation of Port Harcourt-Maiduguri railways with rail links and links with all Igbo state capitals and commercial cities, in particular the Onitsha-Owerri-Aba connection, on the economic development of Igbo territory.

The US President-Elect, Joe Biden‘s appointment of three Nigerian citizens into his cabinet is proof that a decent number of Nigerians abroad are progressing nicely, notwithstanding whatever opposite view anybody may have, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama has said.

“Mr. Joe Biden, the in-coming US President, has three Nigerians in his new cabinet. It shows that Nigerians are flourishing – doing great any place they are. Nigerians should keep on showing their gifts any place they go,” said Onyeama.

The Minister, who said this at Okpara Square, Enugu when he flagged off the Public Service Works (PWS), one of the few projects started by President Muhammadu Buhari-drove organization to engage youths in the nation and deter them from going abroad to look for greener pastures.

Admitting that the circumstance of things has been very harsh and intense for the youths over the most recent ten years, Onyeama emphasised: “It hurts me how Nigerian youths are being trafficked to different nations where they are looking for greener pasture, where some of them don’t live to get the greener pasture; consequently this empowerment focusing at the youngsters of this nation.”

“The vast majority of the doctors, scientists, who are doing great abroad are Nigerians,” Onyeama, stated, recalling that when he toured the Caribbean Island (Jamaica), he was enjoyably shocked to understand that one of the best hospitals in that nation “is owned by a Nigerian, an indigene of Enugu State,” adding that “Nigeria is blessed with each beneficial thing. All we require is good leadership.”

Onyeama further stated: “I went with Mr. President to China around two years back. Furthermore, the President was considering how China had the ability to lift a very numerous individuals from neediness in three years,” clarifying that the three things that contributed to this included “having the ability to take care of yourself, having technical education and having money to finance the program.”

NIN Mandatory for Foreign Diplomats says Federal Government.



The Federal Government of Nigeria says National Identity Number is compulsory for foreign diplomats who will reside in Nigeria for a continuous period of at least two years.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, made this known in a statement by his Technical Assistant, Dr Femi Adeluyi, on Sunday.

He said that an enrolment centre has been set up for the foreign diplomats at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement read, “The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has endorsed the establishment of National Identity Number (NIN) enrolment centre at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The desk will be set up by Tuesday, 19th of January, 2021.

“This enrolment centre will offer help for members of the Diplomatic Corps and will be overseen by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, through the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)

“The centre is being established based on the solicitation of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in order to simplify the registration process for diplomats.

“The National Identity Number is a must for diplomats who will live in Nigeria for a continuous period of at least two years.

“It is also a must for all other lawful inhabitants in the nation as written in Section 16 of the National Identity Management Commission Act 2007.

“The Law has made it a must for Nigerians and legal residents to obtain a NIN since 2007. Be that as it may, compliance has been low, as of not long ago.”
