Chidi Ibeh, Ohanaeze Ndigbo-led factional leader has declared that it will help the IPOB Eastern Security Network and other indigenous security agencies to stop any sort of crime in the South-East region.

Ibeh, in a statement by Secretary-General Kalu Mkpa, a media assistant to the factions, noted that the body’s leadership has moved to put all stakeholders in Igbo land on the same page, including Southeast Governors, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and youths, in order to defend the territorial integrity of the Igbo nation against invasion by herdsmen and extremists.

Recall that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had launched the Eastern Security Network, ESN. He had said “ESN was formed to protect the Southeast from marauding Fulani herdsmen and other criminal elements.”

In Sunday’s declaration, the Ibeh-led group stated, “whether it is called the IPOB Eastern Security Network or the proposed Southeast Governors’ or Ogbunigwe Joint Security Office, we will ensure that potential invasions from outside will be stopped without further delay.”

Ibeh said it would assist in the full realization of “Enyimba Economic City” Aba, the reconstruction of the Enugu coal mine, the resuscitation of Port Harcourt-Maiduguri railways with rail links and links with all Igbo state capitals and commercial cities, in particular the Onitsha-Owerri-Aba connection, on the economic development of Igbo territory.

“Mr. Joe Biden, the in-coming US President, has three Nigerians in his new cabinet. It shows that Nigerians are flourishing – doing great any place they are. Nigerians should keep on showing their gifts any place they go,” said Onyeama.

The Minister, who said this at Okpara Square, Enugu when he flagged off the Public Service Works (PWS), one of the few projects started by President Muhammadu Buhari-drove organization to engage youths in the nation and deter them from going abroad to look for greener pastures.

All we need is good leadership.”

“The vast majority of the doctors, scientists, who are doing great abroad are Nigerians,” Onyeama, stated, recalling that when he toured the Caribbean Island (Jamaica), he was enjoyably shocked to understand that one of the best hospitals in that nation “is owned by a Nigerian, an indigene of Enugu State,” adding that “Nigeria is blessed with each beneficial thing. All we require is good leadership.”

Onyeama further stated: “I went with Mr. President to China around two years back. The Federal Government of Nigeria says National Identity Number is compulsory for foreign diplomats who will reside in Nigeria for a continuous period of at least two years.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, made this known in a statement by his Technical Assistant, Dr Femi Adeluyi, on Sunday.

He said that an enrolment centre has been set up for the foreign diplomats at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement read, “The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has endorsed the establishment of National Identity Number (NIN) enrolment centre at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The desk will be set up by Tuesday, 19th of January, 2021.

“This enrolment centre will offer help for members of the Diplomatic Corps and will be overseen by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, through the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)

“The centre is being established based on the solicitation of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in order to simplify the registration process for diplomats.

“The National Identity Number is a must for diplomats who will live in Nigeria for a continuous period of at least two years.

“It is also a must for all other lawful inhabitants in the nation as written in Section 16 of the National Identity Management Commission Act 2007.

“The Law has made it a must for Nigerians and legal residents to obtain a NIN since 2007. Be that as it may, compliance has been low, as of not long ago.”
