Chairman, Interim Management Committee, IMC, Orlu LGA, Hon. Chief Mrs. Nneoma Ifeoma Ndukwu (Ugosinachi) had on Wednesday held a maiden meeting with traditional rulers of the 35 recognized Autonomous communities in the local government area, describing them as most revered Monarchs among others in Imo State and beyond.
She noted with profound respect and humility over the invitation, saying, it was convened to intimate them on the key policy thrust of the “Shared Prosperity” administration of the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma (Onwa Oyoko) as it affects Orlu LGA since she assumed office last Thursday, April 2, 2020.
In her opening remarks, the Orlu Council Boss, Nneoma Ifeoma Ndukwu appreciated God the owner of lives for preserving each and every one of them in good health and in high spirits despite the rampaging deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
Continuing, the ebullient Chairman, pointed out”it is only the living that plans and we must move forward despite the challenges, staying, the essence of her appointment was to provide amenities and social services, maintain law and order, even as to ensure relative peace and serene environment among others for everyone.
Nneoma Ifeoma Ndukwu, further informed the traditional rulers, she has toured the13 wards with members of the Interim Management Committee, IMC, sensitizing the people on the precautionary measures put in place on the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, distributing evenly, food items and cash donations from the amiable Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma for the vulnerable and the indigents, adding, that singular gesture was to cushion the effects of the “Stay Home” directive from his office, aimed at abating the pandemic from spreading like wildfire, even as she noted, the result of the “Lockdown”, though, looks painful, was done in the overall interest of everyone.
Furthermore, she commended the traditional rulers for making sure the palliatives donated to their various communities, was shared without any form of rancor and acrimony.
While appreciating their efforts immensely for being at the forefront of sensitizing their subjects on the dreaded virus, Coronavirus.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers to the remarks of the Orlu Council boss, HRH Eze Magnus Chukwuemeka Duruigbo, JP, the Igbonenye IV of Umuowa Autonomous Community/Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, Orlu LGA, thanked the IMC Chairman for deeming it fit to invite them for the meeting, saying, “it was a noble step in the right direction”.
He noted, Nneoma Ndukwu has done so much within the short period of her appointment without seeking for notice, stating, his colleagues could testify to his claims.
Eze Duruigbo further passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma for the recent commissioning of the Isolation Centre at Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH Orlu), rehabilitation and control of the Amaigbo /Ihiala / Umuduru road and the flood menace near the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Umuna which had been abandoned for many years by past Governors of the state and expressed gratitude to Senator Hope Uzodinma for appointing Hon. Chief Mrs. Nneoma Ifeoma Ndukwu ( Ugosinachi) as the Chairman, Interim Management Committee, IMC, Orlu LGA, just as he pointed out, the Governor’s decision to appoint her has equally brought relative peace and harmony between political stakeholders in the area.
Among the traditional rulers at the meeting were HRM Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, Obi of Obinugwu, HRM Eze (Dr) Emmanuel Chukwuaginam Okeke, JP, Eze Udo II of Amaifeke Ancient Kingdom, HRM Eze Douglas Okwara, Okwarachukwu IV of the Umuna Ancient Kingdom and HRH Eze Stephen Okeke, Obi of Ihioma Ancient Kingdom.
