The Interim Management Committee Chairman of Orlu Local Government, Hon. Ifeoma Ndukwu had upon resumption of office last Friday, visited the palace of three traditional rulers in the area for Royal blessings.
The traditional rulers visited included, HRM Eze Dr. Douglas Okwara, the Traditional Ruler of Umuna, HRH, Eze B.C Okereke, the Traditional Ruler of Uzoubi Umuna and HRH, Eze E.C Okeke, the Traditional Ruler of Amaifeke.
Addressing the Traditional Rulers, the IMC chair disclosed that it would amount not only to disrespect to the people of Orlu Local Government but also God himself to assume office without foremost honoring the traditional Rulers who God has given the mandate to look after the affairs of men.
Upon visiting the said Traditional Rulers who individually prayed for her for God’s direction, and wisdom, the chairman proceeded to Regina Pacis Catholic Church Ihioma where she further received prayers from the Dean of the pastoral Region, Very Rev. Monsignor Okolie who summarized the prayers and committed her to God. In Umuna Palace, Eze Okwara who extolled the virtues of the chairman who also hails from Umuna commended Governor Uzodinma, wisdom in the choice of the chairman.
Okwarachukwu, who is also the chairman Isu Council of Traditional Rulers while praying to God for her protection assured her of the support of the traditional rulers of Orlu and Umuna people in particular.
In the same vein, the traditional ruler of Uzoubi Umuna, HRH Eze B.C Okereke Commended the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma for appointing the chairman.
Describing the appointment of Ndukwu as a round peg in a round hole, he charged the people to provide the chairman with every support she may need to pilot the affairs of the Orlu people.
In his submission, the Traditional Ruler of Amaifeke Eze E.C. Okeke noted that the appointment of the chairman is one of the good things that has happened in Orlu and in the administration of Uzodinma pointing out that with the stance of Orlu at the moment, it requires a woman like Ndukwu to chair the Local Government.
Okeke who enjoined the chairman to employ her leadership acumen which she used at various times in the Catholic Church in the present work prayed to God to provide her with good health and wisdom to pilot Orlu affairs.
Describing her as the number one citizen in Orlu Local Government, Eze Okeke called on different factions to surrender and support the chairman.
Some of the persons that accompanied the chairman to the said visit include, Dr. Emeka Enyinnaya, Chinedu Oguike, Pastor Ethel Maduakor, Hon. Victor Nwadike amongst others.
Meanwhile, the chairman would today Monday 6th launch operation protect yourself against COVID-19.
Information to lead revealed that after launching the programme at the Local Government, the chairman would move from community to community on the need to prevent selves from the epidemic.
