In a bid to ensure that Teachers who were omitted in the recent school fees payments particularly the march payment are carried along, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, the Imo State chapter has called on the affected Teachers to appear at their Owerri Secretariat for verification and possible payment.
In a release signed by the Union’s State Secretary, Godwin Asogwa and made available to Lead, the affected Teachers are to visit the said secretariat along Porthacourt road with their appointment’s documents.
Imo State Government had a week ago announced that it uncovered 4800 Ghost Teachers in the state-owned primary schools.
In a press release signed by the Governor’s Chief press secretary and media Adviser and made available to Lead, Government made it expressly clear that only genuine Teachers numbering over Thirteen Thousand would be paid Salaries pointing out that those who did not receive salaries should be as a result of either BVN or wrong employment history.
Some of the affected Teachers who spoke to Lead on the guise of anonymity wondered why their names would be omitted while they had not only be receiving previous salaries but also took part in the recent verification exercises conducted by the Imo State Government.
They however called on the Government and relevant authorities to pay them their salaries without further delay like their other colleagues.
