Our reporter who covered the ceremony stated that it was an assemblage of political, traditional and musical crème de la crème of Imo state and Nigeria at large including the sensational singer, Flavour who thrilled the crowd with melodious songs.

Reading the welcome address at the event, Prince Amadi said that the idea was to celebrate the divine means through which the Governor emerged and not for mere jamboree.

According to him, the Governor has so far proven his love for the people of Owerri zone, stressing that he (the Governor) deserves more than a reception.

The Eziama-born political giant further urged the Governor to continue to demonstrate his overflowing love for the people of the zone especially in areas of infrastructures and economic development.

“The purpose of this gathering today is to appreciate the Governor and demonstrate our love for him.

“We will continue to demonstrate a high sense of maturity in accommodating everybody towards the realization of the 3Rs mantra of the shared prosperity government.

“It is our earnest wish, however, that after you complete your constitutional tenure of 8years, that you graciously hand over to an Owerri zone man to continue from where you stopped.

“No doubt, Your Excellency, you have started well. Therefore, we urge you to continue to widen the frontiers of development in the state so that the people will completely feel the rejuvenating breaze of the shared prosperity government.

“The nine LGAs in Owerri zone have shown unalloyed support and solidarity to your government. We promise we will continue to keep the tempo high and the cardinal aims of this government which is anchored on the 3Rs, shall be fully realized.

“In the same vein, I want to use this golden opportunity to wish you, my boss and political ally, a happy 62nd birthday. You shall be exalted to greater height as you diligently serve the people of Imo state whose mandate you hold tenaciously.

“Thank you so much, Your Excellency, for your love for Ndi-Owerri zone. Thank you for pairing with one of our own, Prof. Placid Njoku, the deputy Governor, in recovering the state from the days of locusts. Thank you for honoring our invitation and God bless you,” he concluded.

The chairman of the occasion, Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, while speaking, said that Imo people are blessed to have Senator Hope Uzodinma as their Governor. I must tell you, Hope I’d a good man. He deserves more than just a reception.

“I have known Hope Uzodinma for so long and I can beat my chest to say that Imo people made the right choice in him. He is not a greedy politician. He is generous and accommodating.

“I am an elderstateman and I have given in my best to the development of the state and Nigeria at large. All I do now is to groom the younger ones to grow. Prince Charls Amadi is my boy and I am happy he is doing well both in politics and business.

“Imo is the only state we can gladly call our own, so why won’t we support the government to achieving better result. Let us eschew violence and pull him down syndrome. It has dragged us backward.
