The leadership of the apex youth body in Imo North Senatorial district, known as Congress Of Okigwe Zone Youths Assembly (COZYA) has endorsed the aspiration of Hon Chikwem Onuoha to represent the zone at the senate.
The National President of the Central Youth body in the zone, Comrade Odinakachi Onweni who made the declaration while presenting their endorsement letter to Hon Chikwem Onuoha on Sunday, 5th of July 2020 at his Country home in Umuaro Isiala Mbano LGA, pointed out that the apex youth body after a detailed study of all the aspirants in the race, collectively resolved to throw their supports behind Hon Chikwem Onuoha, arguing that he is the best among the aspirants.
Onweni who called for one-minute silence for the peaceful repose of the soul of late Comrade Chima Njoku, however, maintained that the entry of Chikwem Onuoha on the platform of the All Progressives Congress has tilted the balance of power in his direction, stressing that he has all it takes to win the election for the APC.
He further described Chikwem Onuoha as a true Democrat who strongly believes in service with integrity and total dedication to the welfare of his people.
According to Comrade Onweni who was flanked by all the National Executives of the apex youth body, “Hon. Chikwem Onuoha’s desire to serve, his love for his people, his experience, age, and his charisma set him apart,”
“He will make a good senator for our people. He is recognized and respected. He is not a baby politician. He won’t use public funds for his personal use, he is fit and proper. He knows what the senatorial district needs, the plights of the people, and the need to deepen legislative empowerment and proactive representation are things he has promised us.”
“The constituency projects would be 100% people’s own, the people of Okigwe zone would be involved in all the processes and see that what is voted for would be used for the benefit of the district, these and other vital qualities made us rally round you.”
In his speech, Hon. Chikwem Onuoha who is a top contender in the forthcoming bye-election said his aim is for a massive transformation of Okigwe zone if voted into the Senate, adding that as a tested hand, he would not only bring legislative transformation into the district but impact lives of the constituents.
The former Deputy Chief of Staff in the State argued that the vital position of Okigwe Zone requires a direct serious approach to issues that concern the collective development of the zone, noting that inclusive governance, special cultivation of representative- constituents relationship and realistic approach to the needs of the Zone will be his watchword.
” I m experienced in the legislative nuances and possessed the required negotiating skills required for a senator in the 21st century to attract dividends of democracy to his people and I promised never to disappoint my people.”
“My brothers, you are not the only group that endorsed me, if I m elected, I will never be a pushover at the senate because the conditions of Okigwe zone is tormenting me.”

Ebube Agu not alternative to police, army, says Uzodinma
The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has disclosed that the newly formed Ebube Agu security outfit for the South-East region is not an alternative to the police, army and other federal government established security outfits.
The governor in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, said that Ebube Agu is but “a local outfit meant to gather information on criminal activities and give to the security operatives for proper processing and action.”
He identified youth unemployment and ethnic mistrust as the main root of criminality in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general.
The statement identified idleness as the reason fueling criminality and insecurity in Nigeria.
The statement identified the governor as saying “his Government is working assiduously to resuscitate the state moribund industries in Imo by entering into Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a seasoned private consulting firm, for the purpose of providing jobs for the Imo teeming youths to keep them away from crime.
“On the birth of security outfit for the South-East Geo-political zone codenamed EBUBEAGU, the Governor informed that it is not an alternative to the established security agencies such as Police, Army, Air Force, Navy, NSCDC, etc, but a local outfit meant to gather information on criminal activities and give to the security operatives for proper processing and action.
“They are to play complimentary roles on the efforts of the Federal Government and Security Agencies, knowing full well that a threat to security anywhere in the country is a threat to security everywhere in the country.
“Governor Uzodimma used the occasion to reiterate his stand that the security breaches in the South-East recently do not in anyway suggest that Ndigbo are tired of been in Nigeria. Rather, all we want is justice, equity and fairness in a big Nigeria family.”
