…6 Groups Endorse Ambition
While the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to issue date for Okigwe zone Senate Bye-Election, odds appear to favor the All Progressive Grand Alliance Senatorial candidate, Attorney Charles Onyirimba.
This, however, follows the spate of endorsements of his aspiration by six socio-cultural organizations based in the zone.
The groups include- Movement for the Accelerated Development of Okigwe Zone(MADOZ), Okigwe Zone Professional Elites Association(OZOPELA) and Izu Umunne. Others are as follows: New Network for Okigwe Zone’s Development(NENOZOD), Okigwe Zone Elders’ Council(OZEC), and Concerned Leaders of Okigwe Zone(CLOZ).
In their separate comments of endorsements, the groups said they chose Attorney Onyirimba based on his outstanding record of achievements and his passionate devotion and commitment to the service and welfare of the society and humanity.
Speaking on behalf of MADOZ while endorsing Onyirimba for the seat, Prof. Chidiebere Iweh, said the zone is presently at crossroads, observing that only people like Onyirimba who have the requisite credentials, experiences, intellectual capacity and helpful heart can afford to pull the zone through in this period of its turbulent and stormy political history. He called on the people of the zone to take a stand where to ally between the good and the bad, contending that Onyirimba is the dream the zone has been waiting for.
In his own endorsement letter, the President-General of OZOPELA, Chief Sylvester Nwokoro, called on sons and daughters of the zone nursing ambitions to contest for the senatorial bye-election to jettison the idea in order to pave way for a dependable and reliable technocrat in the person of Attorney Charles Onyirimba to represent the zone.
In his own contributions, the Chairman of Okigwe zone-based Izu Nwanne, Dr. Elezie Ezeala, noted that the political representation of the zone in the recent past has been bedeviled with incompetence, ineffectiveness and inefficiency, pointing out that the opportunity has now come to re-engineer and re-invigorate the system for the greater good of the people of the zone. He reminded the people of the zone of the need to invest where it is profitable……saying Onyirimba is the right political investment to make in the forthcoming bye-election.
In his own comment, the Chairman of NENOZOD, Comrade Chibuike Obieshi, said only refined and civilized characters can salvage the zone from its multiplicity of political woes. Describing Onyirimba as the answer, he said it is anachronistic and retrogressive to attempt to engage in trial and error when sure hands like Onyirimba are available and willing to represent the zone.
In his own endorsement on behalf of EZEC, the Acting President General of the group, Chief Athan Anyanwu said the zone is disenchanted with the political situation in the zone, hence he called for public efforts to place Onyirmba in charge of the change agenda currently creeping through the zone.
Making his contributions on behalf of CLOZ, its National Co-ordinator, Nze Chigozie Maxwell Oguzie, said the collective effects of poor representations in the zone have awakened a new consciousness and agitations to the effect that people are now constrained to watch before they leap. He said Onyirimba’s orientation will make his representation at the senate to give the zone a new lease of life.
