Ohanaeze Youths Table Needs Before New PG, Drums Support

The National Working Committee of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has reiterated its support for the newly elected President General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor.

In a communique signed by its Chairman Communique Drafting Committee, Prophet Nwaokoro Felix Alagbaoso, the OYC said that Prof. Obiozor’s peace agreement with the council has proved that all the political blackmail levied against him has been brought to nothingness.

In the communique, it stated that Obiozor has adopted the 10-point economic agenda of the OYC to pursue in collaboration with Governors of Igbo extraction, National Assembly members of Igbo extraction and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, saying that the goals will actualize a new and prosperous Igbo nation, adding that anyone fighting Prof. Obiozor is fighting Ndigbo and must be seen and treated as an enemy of Ndigbo.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council charged the Senator representing Imo West at the Senate and former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha to withdraw Mr. Chidi Ibe from ‘insulting the sensibilities of the most powerful race in the world’ Ndigbo and join forces with Prof. Obiozor for the economic development of Alaigbo, saying that Senator Okorocha should understand the power of dialogue and peace.

It also said that Senator Okorocha should not in any way be part of those destabilizing Alaigbo but should understand that the unified interest of Ndigbo in 2023 is Nigeria President of Igbo extraction, which no one will doubt his capacity. The OYC also took a swipe at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of Alaigbo saying that it should understand their call to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ which is the supreme calling, therefore, Southeast CAN should organize revival and evangelical crusade and not to be organizers of socio-cultural organization.

“It is humiliating to christian faith and unacceptable by Igbo youths for Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) too meddle into the affairs or politics of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. We must separate religion from Ohanaeze Ndigbo, because Ndigbo understands the right of religion and worship. “The Christian Association of Nigeria of Igbo origin(Southeast CAN), should understand that we have Traditional Worshippers of Igbo origin, therefore, if Traditional Worshippers, Ndi Ogommuo of Igbo extraction or Southeast Association of Chief-Priests will organize their own committee as Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) southeast planned to do, Alaigbo will be in a religious, social and political chaos.

We therefore advice President of Christian Association of Igbo Ministers ably led by Solomon Okorie to remove his hand in any attempt to set a bad precedence in Alaigbo.” The communique read. The OYC also addressed all the aggrieved individuals or group on the outcome of the election of Ohanaeze Ndigbo should articulate their proposal on how to make Alaigbo economically viable and great and submit to Prof. George Obiozor whom has accepted to unify Ndigbo for economic purpose.

“Igbo youths through our long-aged suffering, neglect, injustice, killing off our pro-Biafran youths(IPOB & MASSOB) by Nigeria government, marginalization, and unemployment would not tolerate any individual or group with selfish interest to undermine the collective interest of Ndigbo. We have defined a way to get rid of such personalities or groups from Igbo land for it is no longer going to be business as usual.” The OYC appealed to Arch. Bishop AJV Obinna, Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma and Bishop Onubuogu to advice Southeast Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) and Christian Association of Igbo Ministers not to ridicule Christians in Igbo land by becoming tools in the hand of political profiteers to throw Alaigbo into religious crisis and social anarchy.

They also called on Prof. George Obiozor, to immediately extend an olive branch of peace to his fellow aspirants Dr. Jeo Nwaorgu, Dr. Chris Asoluka, Prof. Chidi Osuagwu, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, Barr. Goddy Uwazurike, Chief Valentine Oparaocha, Chief Richard Ozobu, Bar. Uche Okwukwu, Chuks Ibegbu and many aggrieved contestants to give them responsibilities in Ohanaeze Ndigbo and brainstorm on key issues that will place Alaigbo to a height of socio-political cum economic development while appealing to Ndigbo to maintain trust and confidence in Prof. George Obiozor-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Reigning Mrs. World resigns, runner up takes over

The reigning Mrs World, Caroline Jurie, has resigned her title, the organization running the pageant, said late on Tuesday, weeks after she was involved in a controversy at the Mrs Sri Lanka event.

I stand proud today, knowing that I stood up for what is right. I believe the Mrs World Crown stands for a purpose,” Jurie wrote in a statement shared on her Instagram page.

She continued: “I know Mrs World Inc. does not condone malpractices. Therefore, wearing the Mrs World crown and holding the title on unfair grounds go against the purpose of ensuring a fair and equal stage for every woman.”

” Hence, I am stepping down from the title of Mrs World 2020 and I am handing over my Mrs World 2020 Crown. I hereby terminate the Mrs World 2020 contract I entered into on November 4, 2019, with Mrs World Inc.”

READ MORE:

Jurie was arrested and released on bail this month after a fracas at the Mrs Sri Lanka pageant in Colombo, where Jurie forcibly removed the winner’s crown, claiming the other woman was a divorcee and not qualified to win the title.

“Her voluntary resignation decision was made solely by Caroline herself,” Mrs World Inc said late on Tuesday, in a news release on social media.

Jurie was not immediately reachable for comment.

Kate Schneider of Ireland, the runner-up in the 2020 contest which Jurie won, will be the new Mrs World 2020, the organization said.
