Given the outright condemnation by Nigerians against the plan by Inspector General of Police to replace the recently disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS with SWAT, special Weapon And Tactics Team, the Ohanaeze Youth Council has called on the Federal Government and the IG to bury the idea which according to the group is another plan to bring back same people under another guise.
Inspector General of police Adamu Adamu had, over the weekend, announced the ban of SARS in Nigeria.
This decision by the IG was greeted by Nigerians who believed that the, said SARS had done more harm than good in the nation, therefore should be disbanded.
However, Nigerians further kicked against another plan by the IG to replace same SARS with SWAP, another action which Nigerians again have seen as another secret plot to bring back the banned SARS.
One of the Actress in Nigeria, Genevieve Nnaji amongst other Nigerians, have called on the Federal Government and IG in particular not to replace SARS with any group yet.
Apart from the popular Actress, the Ohanaeze Youth Council has also joined their moves by Nigerians in kicking against the recent plan by the IG.
In a release signed by the president, Igboayaka o Igboayaka, and made available to Lead, they condemned such a move.
Igboayaka further called on the Inspector General to resign honorably if he thinks he is tired of giving Nigeria the best in the area of security.
