Ogun Rep. Aremu dumps ADC for APC

A member of the House of Representatives from Ogun State, Olaifa Jimoh Aremu, representing Egbado North Federal Constituency has defected from the African Democratic Congress to the All Progressives Congress APC

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, read Aremu’s letter of defection at the opening of the plenary on Wednesday.

The Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu, raised a point of order to cite the conditions set by the Constitution for defection.

Okechukwu said there was no crisis in the ADC to have allowed Aremu to quit the party.

Gbajabiamila asked the Deputy Minority to name the chairman of the ADC, since he claims to know more about the party, which Okechukwu could not.

The Speaker said since Okechukwu seemed to know little about Aremu’s former party, the lawmaker is what is referred to in Law as “meddlesome interloper.”
