The 19 Northern states Governors will be publicly taking the first doses of the covid-19 vaccine when they arrive to Nigeria says The Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong.
This he said in his address at a webinar organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, where the safety and efficacy of the covid-19 vaccine were discussed.
The Governor who was represented by the secretary to the State Government Prof. Danladi Atu, revealed that the Northern Governors will be publicly taking the vaccine.
This is to dispel any sort of fear surrounding the vaccine.
“We the Governors – have agreed to take the first doses of the vaccine” he added.
I won’t take COVID-19 vaccine, I’m not a guinea pig –Oyedepo
The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners’ Chapel, David Oyedepo, says he won’t take COVID-19 vaccine jab, adding that he is not a guinea pig.
The cleric stated this on Saturday during the church’s Covenant Hour of Prayer programme.
He said, “I have never seen a generation where you force people to take vaccines. It is inhuman; it is immoral sir. I’m not a lawyer but I don’t think it is legal. You can’t come to my house and want to give me injection.
“On what? Did I invite you? They are confused. But the church has the answer. Did you see any outbreak of virus here? How will it enter the gate? Will it come through the air? How? One woman just got down after that injection in Kaduna. What kind of life? Are human beings now turned to guinea pigs?
“The world is confused but the church is lighted. So the triumph of the church will humble the pride of the world. They don’t know what to do sir. In the last days, the church will be reigning in power and glory. That is God’s agenda.

“No apologies. There is a big, big bird in our land, saying ‘don’t take it, they are deceivers’. Let me see someone who will come and inject me. By who? Are you going to tie my hands? How? Did I invite you? I know you are quiet, you will hear more of it. My job is to expose the devil and tell his agents, ‘get off, we are not guinea pigs’.”
Nigeria commenced its vaccination programme against the novel coronavirus last month with 3.924m doses of AstraZeneca vaccine doses.
According to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, 1,081,548 doses of the vaccine have so far been administered across the country as of April 17.
Over 160,000 Covid infections and more than 2,000 associated deaths have been recorded in the country in the last one year, according to statistics by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
Ofcom fines Pastor Chris channel N65.6m over COVID-19 sermon
The Office of Communications in the United Kingdom better known as Ofcom, has sanctioned religious channel, Loveworld, owned by Nigerian Pastor, Chris Oyakhilome.
Ofcom said in a statement that the station was fined £125,000 (N65.6m) for breaching the country’s broadcasting code by disseminating misinformation on COVID-19.
The statement read in part, “Today we have fined Loveworld £125,000 for this breach of the broadcasting code. This was the second time in a year that the broadcaster breached our rules on accuracy in news and harm in its coverage of the coronavirus.”
On December 1, 2020, Loveworld aired a 29-hour programme called the Global Day of Prayer, during which claims were made about the COVID-19.
According to the agency, these claims included the notion that the outbreak was ‘planned’, that the ‘sinister’ vaccine can be used to implant ‘nanochips’ that can control and cause harm to members of the public and the debunked theory that the virus was somehow caused by 5G.
The agency added that it was unfortunate that the station could continue to spread such information despite previous warnings.
Other parts of the statement reads, “Ofcom stresses that legitimate debate about the official response to the coronavirus pandemic is fundamental to holding public authorities to account during a global health crisis - particularly when public freedoms are curtailed and complex policy decisions are being taken.
“However, the inaccurate and potentially harmful claims made during this programme were unsupported by any factual evidence and went entirely without challenge. Ofcom was particularly concerned that this breach followed previous, similar breaches in 2020 during the investigation of which, Loveworld Limited gave Ofcom a number of assurances as to how it would improve its compliance procedures.”
Recently, Pastor Chris has debunked Pastors who go about preaching and urging their members to take the COVID-19 Vaccine, highlighted that the hope of the world is not in the vaccine, but in our lord and saviour Jesus, who has capacity to heal all our infirmities.
He also told pastors to convert their vaccine sermons and energy towards the assignment of God’s Kingdom, wherein they are called.
