The state leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State chapter, under the chairmanship of Prince (Barr.) Marcellinus Nlemigbo, on Monday, July 20, 2020, at the party secretariat, received one of the senatorial aspirants for the Imo North Senatorial rerun, otherwise known as Okigwe zone, Hon. Sir Frank Ibezim and his entourage. Ibezim, a former commissioner of agriculture and natural resources in the state, alongside his campaign team, came to consult with the state caretaker committee of the party as well as declare his intention to seek the party’s nomination for the forthcoming senatorial rerun in Okigwe zone.
While speaking, the senatorial hopeful, described the state chairman of the party, Nlemigbo, as an experienced party administrator cum successful business mogul with a proven track record of integrity in his public and private life. He further submitted that his confidence in the party was reinforced and invigorated by the integrity of Prince Marcon as the chairman while pledging his unalloyed support and solidarity to his leadership of the APC.
Speaking on his ambition to represent the good people of Imo North at the upper chambers of the national assembly, Ibezim maintained that his aspiration is informed by his passion to give his people quality and effective representation that would bring quality dividends of democracy to the people. He promised that with his experience and exposure as well as his knowledge of the needs of his constituents, he would pursue with clarity of mind, a legislative agendum that would place a priority on quality service delivery to his people.
In his response, while welcoming the aspirant, the state APC boss expressed his satisfaction with the visit, describing it as a bold and courageous step. He described the party as the home of all, and as such, promised the determination of the state executive under his leadership to build a more united and strong APC in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution. He also assured his guest of the party’s commitment to providing a level playing ground for all aspirants. While urging him to continue with his consultation, the chairman advised against politics of bitterness, campaign of calumny and character assassination.
