In a continued bid to recover the alleged embezzled N19.63 Billion of the local government funds by the immediate past administration led by Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the Imo State Assembly Committee on Public Accounts has invited the General manager of Zenith bank Wetheral Road, the former Commissioner ministry of Local Government Gertrude Oduka, Ifeanyi Okpara, from the office of the Chief of Staff amongst others today Monday first June for investigation.
The Imo State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts had in accordance with the audit report of the Auditor General of the Local Government which accused the immediate past administration of mismanaging N19.63billion, a sum that belongs to the Local Government.
Began the investigation into the matter by inviting the involved institutions and persons.
When this issue was first raised, it generated mixed reactions in the state.
While some condemned the immediate past administration for mismanaging such sum, others said no, while describing it mere allegation targetted at tarnishing the image of the former governor.
The former governor in the bid to stop his invitation by the panel went to Owerri High Court where he prayed the court amongst others to stop the panel from investigating the matter which the court however rejected his prayers.
In a release signed by the Committee’s Chairman and member representing Oru West in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri, the invitees are to appear before the House by 10 am today.
