Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has equaled the club’s legend Xavi Hernandez’s record for the most appearances for the Blaugrana.

This was made known by Barcelona in a post via its website on Monday.

This record was achieved after Messi featured in Barcelona’s LaLiga 4-1 win over Huesca last night.

The match was Messi’s 767th appearance for Barcelona in all competitions so far. Xavi also featured 767 times for Barca before he left the LaLiga giants in 2015.

Meanwhile, a brace from Messi and a strike from Antoine Griezmann and Oscar Mingueza gave Ronald Koeman’s men all three points against Huesca at Camp Nou.

The win over Huesca means Barcelona are now in the second position on the LaLiga table, with 59 points from 27 games.

The Catalan club are four points behind league leaders, Atletico Madrid.

Alex Iwobi has admitted he’s amazed by the quality of Everton teammate James Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who earns £140,000-a-week at Goodison Park, has made an instant impact in his first year in English football.

The left-footed playmaker, who previously starred for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and FC Porto, has six goals and eight assists in just 22 appearances for the Toffees.

Iwobi is amazed by the quality the 29-year-old possesses on his weaker right foot.

“What shocked me was his right foot finish, I didn’t know he had that in him,” Iwobi was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“Some of the passes he plays, I don’t know how he sees it. It’s not normal.”

Iwobi could make a return back to the Everton squad when they travel to Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday.

The Nigerian missed the Toffees 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace due to a minor knock.
