The police in Imo state is currently on the trail of one Victor Iwu, for allegedly killing his kinsman, Bright Odi, over the sharing formula of the brideprice paid for one of their sisters in Umunze village, Obinze community, in the Owerri Local Government Area of Imo State on Monday, November 30.
According to reports, one of their sisters was recently given out in marriage and as expected, her husband paid the brideprice to her family. While sharing the brideprice, an argument ensued between Victor and Bright. The argument soon degenerated into a fight and in the process, Victor kicked Bright, an electrician, in his scrotum.
Eyewitnesses say Bright lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors on duty confirmed him dead the next day, Tuesday, December 1.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the suspect is currently on the run and would soon be apprehended.
Ikeokwu said the matter has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

The suspect was reported to have taken the victim in his commercial vehicle at about 5am from Ogunrun Road, Mowe, Ogun State to Lagos.
The
victim who was reported to be going to her office in Lagos when she was taken
in the car by her abductor who later raped her and collected a ransom before
releasing her.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, disclosed this on Friday.
Oyeyemi said, “The victim had on September 17, 2020 reported at Mowe Police Station that while she was going to her office on that day, she boarded a Hyundai car at about 5am from Ogunrun Road, Mowe to Lagos.
“But,
on getting to Mowe junction, the driver of the car made a turn to Ibadan road
and drove her to a bushy area along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway where he gave her
the beating of her life, before taking away her innocence by raping her.
“After
the incident, he held her hostage and asked her to call her relations demanding
N140,000 as ransom before he will let her go.
“She
stated further that she had to call her brother who sent N140,000 to her
account, after which she transferred the money to the abductor before she was
released.
“Upon a report made by the victim, the DPO Mowe Division, CSP Marvis Jayeola, assigned his detectives to go after the suspect and arrest him on sight.
“The suspect was apprehended on January 16, 2021 and has been ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun to be moved to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Police command in Kano has affirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old housewife, Suwaiba Shuaibu, for purportedly stabbing one Aisha Kabirto death few days to her wedding.
Aisha was said to have
accepted a proposal for union with Malam Shahrehu Alhaji Ali, the spouse of the suspect, before her abhorrent
homicide by her to-be co-wife on
January 1 at Gimawa village, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The spokesman, Kano
police command, DSP Abdullahion Haruna Kiyawa, who affirmed
the incident in a statement issued early Tuesday,
said the deceased was pronounced missing on January 1st and her corpse was found the next day in an uncompleted building within her
neighbourhood.
According to the statement; “On 02/01/2021, at about 1030hrs, a complaint was received from one Kabiru Jafaru, ‘m,’ of Gimawa Village, Doguwa LGA of Kano State, that the body of his 17-year-old daughter, Aisha Kabir, ‘f,’ who got missing on 01/01/2021 was found in an uncompleted building in their area of residence.
“The complainant said the casualty
was suspected to have been stabbed on her neck by
her killer(s).
“After getting the grievance, the scene was
visited and the body was evacuated to
Tudun Wada General Hospital for assessment by a Medical Doctor.
“The Commissioner of
Police Kano State Command, CP Habu A. Sani, psc further raised and
instructed a team of detectives, led by Divisional Police Officer Doguwa,
CSP Bala Shuaibu, to capture the culprit(s).
“The team promptly
got the ball rolling and apprehended
one Suwaiba Shuaibu, ‘f,’ 20 years old, of the same address with the complainant,
who is a second wife to one Shahrehu Alhaji Ali, ‘m,’ also of a similar
location.
“Investigations revealed
the deceased and the husband of the suspect have been in proposed relationship
for over six years and they were to tie the nuptial knot on 9th January, 2021.
Kiyawa said during
interrogation, the suspect uninhibitedly admitted that; “she had called the casualty
on phone, tricked and lured her to an uncompleted building in their
neighborhood where she used a sharp knife to stab her on her neck, chest and
other parts of her body.
“She revealed
she murdered the victim out of jealousy, because her husband
proposed to wed her.”
He said the case has been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, for discrete investigation, adding that the suspect will be charged to court once the investigation is completed.
The police in Plateau state have arrested a 55-year-old man, Abdulhamid Sale, pictured above for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Bukuru community of Jos South local government area.
A youth leader in the community, Aliyu Hassan, said the suspect was arrested after one of the mothers of his victim reported the matter to members of the vigilante group in the community.
“The arrest of the suspect came after a report by a mother to one of the victims to the vigilante group in the area that she saw her daughter with a phone and felt that something was wrong.
After a thorough investigation, we found out that the phone was given to the girl by the said Abdulhamid Sale, and further checks revealed that he raped seven girls, mostly 13 years old in Kugiya area of Bukuru, who are mostly hawkers, by luring them with as little as 50 Naira, and small Tecno Phones”Aliyu said
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said the suspect is in the custody of the police and would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.
