Considering the effects of the global challenge of COVID 19 or the pandemic known as the Corona Virus, which has killed many and turned many homes to total wretchedness and hunger.
To cushion the effects of the pandemic from taking lives and precautionary measures and the appeal by both Federal and State Governments for good spirited individuals to assist in this time of lockdown which has drastically affected the well being the f the people.
To that effect the 2018/2019 ALGON member in Imo State and the then Owerri West Local Government Chairman, Hon. Chidi Ordu, popularly known as Madoka, has distributed over 50kg of 50 bags of Rice, 50cartons of Noddles, 300 tubers of Yam, 10 bags of beans, 2 bags of Garri, 4 baskets of Fresh Tomatoes and Fresh Pepper, 4 bags of Onions and 300 pcs Face Masks to non-indigenes, men, women and youths of Umualum Nekede of the Nekede Ancient Kingdom in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State in his country home.
While addressing the Indigents from 6 kindreds that makes up Umualum in Nekede, Honourable Chidi Ordu thanked God for the opportunity he has given to him to serve his people, he assured them that things must be better for the People in the area, he stressed that he finds it heartbreaking to see people suffer most in this period of lockdown which has affected every aspect of human life of his people, he maintained that for his people to be alive is must paramount and sacrosanct, that is why he felt to give the little he can afford so that the Indigenes both to non-indigenes living the area so that they will not die of hunger and starvation.
Meanwhile Honourable Chidi Ordu illustrated his feelings over the spread of the deadly virus which has killed many and has kept many in perpetual hunger, he added that it will be better than his people survive this scourge by putting on often their face masks which he distributed for free, he encouraged them to regularly wash their hands to avert the spread among the People.
In his remarks the traditional ruler of Nekede Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Highness Eze Prof. Agumanu who was represented by his Ugoeze, Ugoeze Ijeoma Agumanu of Nekede Ancient Kingdom expressed joy in the person of their son, Hon.Chidi Ordu, whom he said is a true son of the community, Eze Agumanu blessed God for giving them a man like Hon. Chidi Ordu and prayed God to replenish his pockets in thousands of folds, Eze Agumanu enjoined other well-to-do individuals in the area to emulate Honorable Ordu.
Earlier in her words while addressing the Indigents, the wife of the donor, Honourable Mrs.Chidi Ordu illustrated the determination of her family which her husband is the head, in helping people mostly this trying times of serious challenge, she lamented that the family chooses to show love to people not because of they have more than enough but to show concern the little way they can stressing that it shows why we are Christians.
However an indigent Mrs. Beatrice Opara while interacting with Eastern Lead Express Newspaper said this is the first of its kind in the area, she thanked God for the live of Honourable Chidi Ordu and his family, for coming to their aid at this critical moment of lockdown which has affected their means of livelihood, she added that the Palliatives will go a long way to cushion the hunger that is almost taking their lives.
An elder in the community, Mr.Ndubusi Ordu, could not hold his tears in expressing how the Palliatives donated by Hon. Chidi Ordu, has gone a long way to cushion the hunger that has ravaged people of low-income earners, he maintained that Chief Chidi does not have a rival in the area, he prayed God to empower and nourish him the more, he concluded by saying that the Indigenes will never forget in a hurry the Palliatives and the concern he has shown in coming and calling his Community the Indigenes to live on, he disclosed.
