Eastern lead Newspapers has received NUJ Legacy Award as the best local Tabloid in Imo for the year 2020.
NUJ legacy Award which takes place once every seven years was last celebrated in the year 2013.
Addressing the press after the award, one of the Lecturers of the day, Prof proteus Uzoma commended the organizers of the program pointing out that the selection of Lead Newspaper as the best outstanding Local Tabloid in Imo has shown that indeed the body was not biased.
Prof Uzoma, a philosopher and a critical writer revealed that Lead is one of the papers in Imo that observes the tenets of journalism which includes but not limited to balance reportage.
He, however, charged the management of the medium to keep up with their house style.
In his speech, one of the foremost traditional rulers in the state and former secretary to the state Government, HRH, Eze VNC Ugbala hailed the leadership of the NUJ for the selection of Eastern Lead Newspapers as the best pointing out that the said newspaper though new but has shown and proved its mattle in the comity of other Local Tabloids in the state.
He further enjoined the management and staff of the medium to keep the flag flying.
Responding, the publisher and editor in chief of the Newspaper, Mr Declan Anaele expressed gratitude to the NUJ leadership as well as Imo people who according to him have constantly patronised the medium.
