Kano consumer council seizes fake, expired drugs worth N100m

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council, on Tuesday, confiscated fake, expired and counterfeit drugs and other products worth N100m.

Briefing journalists on the breakthrough, the acting Managing Director of the council, Dr Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, said the products were confiscated at Sabon Gari and other markets in the metropolis between Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5, 2021.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on KAROTA, Nasiru Na’ibawa, the KSCPC boss stated that the council would not relent in its efforts of monitoring the importation and sale of unwanted products, which were dangerous to the health of Kano residents, particularly at a time that the Ramadan was around the corner.

The confiscated products, according to a statement by the council’s Information’s Officer, Musbahu Yakasai, include drugs, lemon flavour juice, spaghetti, macaroni and other consumables.

The statement warned members of the public to be mindful of the drugs they procure so as to avoid consuming expired and adulterated products
