The Covid-19 committee chairman in Imo Professor Maurice Iwu has attributed the index cases in Imo, to security lapses at the state borders.
Iwu disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri while speaking on the strength and weaknesses of the security Agencies since the epidemic outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Iwu who used the forum to commend the Imo State Government on the fight against the epidemic in the state urged Imo people to abide by the rules spelled out maintaining that though the sickness is in Imo, there is still no cause for alarm.
Iwu further advised Imo people and security Agencies to be aware of people coming from Abuja, Kano, and Lagos to Imo revealing that they are the much carriers of the dreaded pandemic
However, the attribution of the Covid-19 in Imo to security lapses at the Borders of the state has vindicated the recent publication the Lead Newspapers which hitherto enjoined the state Government to strengthen the security at the Border of Imo which according to the said report was collecting bribe from the motorists and commuters coming from the sister states to Imo.
