ITC: Passengers Extol Management Committee on Rebranding, Improved Services

As the Imo Transport Company (ITC) under the leadership of the Ihedioha constituted Interim Management Committee improves, rebrands and repackages, commuters have continued to express satisfaction on the recent improvement experienced which hitherto was absent.

When Newsmen visited the premises of the Company to have first-hand information on the goings-on, we spoke to one of the passengers who gave her name as Mrs.Chinyere. She said that she has been boarding ITC for so many years but stopped using the transport company four years ago because of unhealthy services, break down of vehicles and disappointments that overwhelmed the company. She said when she was told that a new management is on board, she decided to give it a try, adding that what obtains in ITC today is a sharp departure from what obtained before, stressing that whoever the interim committee is, they must be people of vision, innovation, coordination, organization and result-oriented, while urging the staff, other management staff and the state government to support the Committee to deliver more on the improvement.

The passenger said that ITC has been revived with sharp buses that do not break down on the roads, re-orientation of staff is back and that the drivers are polite and decent to passengers unlike what it used to be four years ago. She wondered what magic the management committee did to achieve all those. She promised that she will spread the good news of ITC to her families and friends.

Another passenger who gave his name as Comrade John said he was surprised with the decency, decorum and courtesy that he was greeted when he entered the booking office, he was wondering what was happening, adding that when he asked one of the staff ‘’my brother what is going on in ITC?, he replied ‘Are you not aware that we have new management committee?’. Comrade John concluded to Journalists, ‘my dear, everything is about leadership and using the right person, I do not know who the Chairman of ITC is, I can only say that he is doing well’.

One of the Franchise Operators who pleaded anonymity said that they have never have it so good since the arrival of the interim management committee, especially that the work conditions are friendly and that there is always an interface that yields positive result.

When the Journalists spoke to the Chairman, ITC Interim Management Committee, Emeka Aririguzo, to know what they did to remodel, repackage, rebrand and re-launch the transport to the delight of passengers, he simply said that they started from the scratch to begin to address the challenge, bearing in mind that the past administration almost grounded to a halt, the company, they decided to look at foundational problems since according to him, once the foundation is faulty, the building cannot be strong.

He revealed to newsmen that his committee has visited all the terminals of the company, with the intention of finding out what works and what does not work, stressing that the dedication of the management committee and that of the staff cannot be compared to what existed before now. He hinted that ITC is the pride of passengers and other transport companies and that the glory and confidence must be returned so that ITC can take its place in the transport sector. He noted that they have professional maintenance of vehicles, no accident and disappointment of passengers by vehicular breakdown on trips, adding that the Franchise Operators are happy with the government because there is a level playing ground and conducive work system, adding that salary is paid as at when due.
