The Imo State Commissioner of Police CP Isaac Akinmoyede, on Monday the 21st of September 2020, flagged off the enrolment of the retired police officers into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)., this piece of information was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen by the Cp, through the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Sp Ikeokwu Godson Orlando. The event witnessed a large turn out of retirees including very senior Police officers like DIG DECLAN UZOMA rd and AIG EMMANUEL ANUNIR
According to the information, CP Akinmoyede welcomed the retirees to the Area Command Headquarters and conveyed the IGP’s felicitation to them. He further told them that the Inspector-General of Police and the Federal Government of Nigeria is very much interested in their welfare, pointing out that, it was based on that, that the program was approved.
The Imo police Boss, further disclosed that the program is designed in a way that the retirees will enjoy very good healthcare for free or at an affordable and stress-free payment.
The Cp, therefore, urged them to have faith in the Federal Government as there are more incentives being put in place for their upkeep.
Responding to the CP’s comments, the State Chairman of the Retirees Association, DSP Albert Mbachu (rtd) expressed delight, even as he thanked the state Commissioner of Police for finding time to come around, he further requested the CP to convey their gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for this gesture.
Speaking further, DIG Declan Uzoma (Rtd) commended the IGP as well as the FGN for this gesture and requested that more welfare package be extended to them.
