Imo Police Command Arrest 5 Robbery Suspects, Cultism



In a bid to ensure peace and serenity in Imo, the police command had arrested five suspects for Armed robbery and Cultism.

In line with its duty to protect lives and properties and to reduce crime to a bearable minimum,  the Imo state police command under the leadership of, Cp Isaac Akinmoyede has arrested five criminal suspects, three suspects, Ibe Uchenna, Chikwado Allessio Onuoha and Johnson Ezekiel Chigozie were arrested for armed robbery and one locally made pistol was found on them, this piece of information was contained in a press release made available to newsmen through the command’s PPRO, Sp Ikeokwu Godson Orlando.      

According to Sp Ikeokwu, on the 13th of June 2020, operatives of the anti-cultism unit while on stop and search duties at Akwakuma, by Owerri/Orlu Road, stopped a Kasea Motorcycle carrying three persons, one Ibe Uchenna ‘m’ aged 25years old, a native of Okpala in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo state, Chikwado Allessio Onuoha ‘m’ aged 23years of Amaraku in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area and Johnson Ezekiel Chigozie ‘m’ aged 24years of Amakohia in Owerri North Local Government Area, Upon search conducted on them, a locally made pistol was recovered from the said Chikwado Allesio Onuoha.

He further disclosed that Preliminarily investigation revealed that they are part of the robbery syndicate that robs Amakohia, Akwakuma, Egbeada, Ubommiri, and environs. Adding that, they will be charged to court accordingly.

In a related development, the command also arrested two criminal suspects for cultism and unlawful possession of firearms, Chijioke Onyeahialam and Johnbosco Ihekoronye, exhibit recovery from them is one locally made pistol.                           

Sp Ikeokwu said that, on the 14th of June 2020, based on credible intelligence, operatives of the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ehime Mbano arrested one Chijioke Onyeahialam ‘m’ aged 25years old and one Johnbosco Ihekoronye ‘m’ for being members of Black Movement of Africa aka AYE or BLACK AXE Secret Cult Fraternity. Adding that a locally made pistol was recovered from them at the point of arrest. He further stated that preliminary investigation revealed that they were planning a revenge mission to avenge an attack on one of their member, pointing out that they confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court.

55-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Jos



The police in Plateau state have arrested a 55-year-old man, Abdulhamid Sale, pictured above for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Bukuru community of Jos South local government area.

A youth leader in the community, Aliyu Hassan, said the suspect was arrested after one of the mothers of his victim reported the matter to members of the vigilante group in the community.

“The arrest of the suspect came after a report by a mother to one of the victims to the vigilante group in the area that she saw her daughter with a phone and felt that something was wrong.

After a thorough investigation, we found out that the phone was given to the girl by the said Abdulhamid Sale, and further checks revealed that he raped seven girls, mostly 13 years old in Kugiya area of Bukuru, who are mostly hawkers, by luring them with as little as 50 Naira, and small Tecno Phones”Aliyu said

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said the suspect is in the custody of the police and would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.

Murdered Mother Of Mbaise Youth Seeks Police Intervention, Accuses Endtime Pastor, Others Of Act



Mrs. Rosslyn Onuachu, mother of a slained Mbaise youth late Chika Onuachu who was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by alleged youths of Umuasonye in Umuariam Obowo on Dec. 25 has called on Imo Police Command to arrest suspected killers of her son and bring them to book.

Recall that late Chika Onuachu, an indigene of Okpuala Itu Aguneze Mbaise was allegedly kidnapped and murdered in Obowo by alleged youths of Umuasonye Obowo, while his lifeless body was found in a bush.

Speaking to journalists on the issue, Onuachu told journalists that a Pastor of “End Time Church” in Aguneze Pst. Paul Anyanwu who is now at large allegedly invited his twin brother and other youths from Umuasonye to attack her son.

She said trouble started when the Pastor and her son had misunderstanding over access road leading to the Pastor’s church and the pastor threatened to kill him.

“The pastor use our land to create access road to his church without consulting us and when my son approached him on the issue, he carried out serious threat against my son.

“On Dec. 25, 2020 the pastor who is from Umuasonye Umuariam but reside in Aguneze, invited his twin brother and other youths of Umuasonye, who came and whisked my son away and allegedly murdered him in Obowo.

She said the pastor fled the area on getting the news of the death of her son, while the matter was reported to a nearby police station in Mbaise.

She cried to the Commissioner of Police in Imo and other human right group to help fight the battle and bring killers of his son to book.

She said “I cry for help, I seek justice, he is my only son and bread winner of my family. He was the one taking care of my poor health condition”, she spoke in tears.

Meanwhile, police has been advised not to sweep the matter under the carpet, but to ensure that the alleged Umuasonye youth who carried out the dastardly act should be brought to book.

An indigene of Obowo who spoke on condition of anonymity, told journalists that the youths have been terrorizing the entire LGA with a guise of being a youth body.

He said the youths are responsible for the recent vandalization of a transformer in Umuariam and the issue went viral on social media.

It will be recalled that the same Umuasonye Youths on December 2020 staged a malicious protest against a prominent indigene of Obowo Prince Josua Onyemauche over unfounded allegations.

However, Imo police dismissed the allegations against Prince Josua Onyemauche discribing it as frivolous.

The youths are currently standing a defamatory charge at Ihitte-Uboma High Court on Suit No: HME 61 2020 between Prince Josua Onyemauche plaintiff and Chijioke Onumaeme, Onwuka Uchenna, Anosike Ikechukwu and Anyawu Okechukwu.

Others in the suit are Chijioke Eche, Anorom Hycient, Osuagwu Emeka, Odinaka Mmakwu and Ekezie Ben.

Meanwhile, confirming the report the Imo police PPRO, Orlando Ikoku said that the matter has officially been reported adding that police has commenced investigations.

2 Suspects In Police Net For Setting Up Brother With Decomposed Corpse



According to a press statement made available to newsmen in Owerri from of the office of the state commissioner of police, CP Isaac Akinmoyede, through the command’s police public relations officer SP Godson Ikeokwu Orlando, on the 4th of May 2020, one Onumajuru Godwin 61years old and Agubosim Chukwuemeka 41 yrs old both of Eziama Obiato in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters that one Emmanuel Onuwa Obator, Mbaitoli LGA, murdered an unidentified person, and hid the head in a water tank (GP Tank) in his compound, as a result of which Emmanuel Onuwa and his children were arrested and a decomposing human head recovered from the water tank in his compound.

It further revealed that Emmanuel Onuwa in a bid to prove his innocence through his lawyer wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police requesting that the case should be re-investigated. Pointing out that, Sequel to the above, the Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac Akinmoyede ordered a revisit of the matter.

Adding that on the 15th of August 2020, upon discreet and painstaking investigation, both Onumajuru Godwin 61 years old and Agubosim Chukwuemeka 41 years old, were arrested for planting the human head in the water tank. Maintaining that, preliminary investigation revealed that both parties have been involved in a running battle over a land dispute, thus necessitating the setting-up/of allegation against Emmanuel Onuwa, in order to ensure that he is jailed, that way they can have unhindered access into the dispute land. Stressing that, they confessed to the crime but claimed that they got the head from a corpse at Njaba river bank, efforts are ongoing to identify the corpse, while the investigation is ongoing.
