The Imo State Police Command paraded five kidnap suspects, Celestine Agu from Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State and Wisdom Sunday, from Arondizuogu Ideato North, Imo State, also paraded were, Godwin Obi, from Ideato North Local Government Area, Imo state, others are, Onyemuche Okpara, from Isuochi Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia state and Chikwado Chukwu, from Isuochi Umunneochi, Abia state on Friday 1st of May 2020, for kidnapping, a seventy-eight years old traditional ruler of Ugwuaku autonomous community, HRH Eze, Igbojionu Emmanuel, and the secretary to Okigwe LGA, Hon. Ndubueze Nwokoro.
Briefing newsmen in Owerri, the command’s police public relations officer, SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, said that on the 23rd April 2020, at about 7:30 pm, the traditional ruler of Ugwuaku Autonomous community, HRH Eze Igbojionu Emmanuel was kidnapped and his Blue color Highlander taken away.
Sp Ikeokwu further disclosed that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N5million, and N1.2 million according to him was paid, but the hoodlums kept demanding for more. In a related development on the 25th of April 2020, gunmen abducted Hon. Chibueze Nwokoro, who is the secretary to Okigwe Local Government council of Imo state, but both men were kidnapped in Okigwe town.
HE further stated that, through painstaking and discreet investigations, operatives of the command stormed the den of the kidnappers rescued the victims unhurt, and arrested five of the kidnappers, he made it clear that, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
