Imo PDP Party Congress: IHEDIOHA FINALLY GIVES UP ON UZODINMA

The immediate former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha appears to have finally given up on Uzodinma in practice by ensuring that only core loyalists made the list over the party’s congress held over the weekend.

Although, the said congress was marred by irregularities but the fact remains he has conquered all opponents and taken over the party’s structure ahead of next election in Imo

Peoples democratic Party (PDP) the Imo State chapter appears to have repeated the mistake it made in 2011, which resulted in the party losing majority of the seats in the state including the Governorship seat.

Just as it has done in Imo over the weekend, the PDP in the 2011 elections started by imposing candidates to the party’s faithful at its congresses while those who declared interest and campaigned were nowhere to be found  because the list  were written in the houses of the leaders.

This also took place at the party’s primaries which also brought in strange persons as candidates of the party at the expense of those who campaigned for various positions and had the support of the electorates in their respective local governments and at the election proper majority of the imported and strange candidates who were not familiar to the electorates lost.

This according to political analysts was part of the problems of the PDP in Imo State till today.

The 2020 PDP congress held at the ward levels and local governments over the weekend were marred by irregularities as people who expected the election to be an option

A 4as prescribed by the leaders of the party only found out that only the core loyalists of the immediate former Governor of Imo state, Rt. Hon. EMeka Ihedioha made the list.

In Orlu Local Government, the party members all gathered at ‘APA’ Hall at Amaifeke to vote candidates of their choice for various positions but became surprised when one of Udenwa’s men and servants, Dr. Vin Udokwu announced to all the party members and aspirants that the Achike Udenwa had selected one Mrs. CHinyere Okoro as the LGA chairman in Orlu and his vice one Adolphus Chigere (Domas), while Emma Akuakanwa was made the secretary.

According to Udokwu, a former Health Commissioner in Ihedioha’s administration, Achike Udenwa maintained that only those that were familiar with him would make the list and not the other way round.

This pronouncement by Udokwu raised a serious dust as people began to call the former governor who was not present at the place, all sorts of names and began to leave the premises.

One of the leaders, of the PDP in Orlu LGA, Athan Ogoh was reported as condemning the said decision by Achike Udenwa adding that those he selected to man the affairs of the party never even indicated interest to run for any of the said seats.

Some of the people who spoke to lead express on guise of anonimity intoned that the decision of Achike Udenwa is tantamount to the end of PDP in Orlu Local Government particularly now that the executive governor of Imo State, Senator Hope uzodinma is from the said constituency.

At Ideato South, our reporter reported that the person that emerged the local Government chairman of the party was changed given the instruction from Ihedioha that the said person was loyal to Thankgod Ezeani, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

In Owerri North Local Government, the local government congress was postponed to today Monday 23rd of March following the alleged plot to highjack the party structure by Ihedioha through Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, the Senator representing Owerri zone at the Red Chambers.

This paper had it on good authority that the said senator concluded plans to impose on the people one Solomon Onwuegbuchilam who hails from same block where the out-going chairman, hails from, (OAU Obibiezea and when this happened, the Senator had no other option than shout down on the Senator which resulted in postponing the LGA congress to today.

The story is not different from what we obtained from Ihitte Uboma, Ezinihitte Mbaise and Isiala Mbano Local Governments.

Aggrieved leaders of the Party who interacted with Journalists at PDP Secretariate Friday  20th. March threatened  Fire if Some reasonable measures are not taken to ratify Observable Impositions and manipulations by some Party Leaders  such as the Case of Umuezegwu Ward, Ihitte/Uboma , Amumara  Ezinihitte Mbaise and Isiala Mbano Wards.

A chieftain of PDP from Ihitte/Uboma ,Hon. Hubert Ifeanyi Anyanwu almost lost his temperament Complaining to one of his Colleagues. He said  the PDP seem to have forgotten that  a Party that is in Opposition is bound to imbibe Democratic Norms and  Culture. He  accused the Ihitte/ Uboma Apex Leader Dr. Chinedu Iwu of playing hide and Seek all through preparations for the Congresses inspite of facts that Meetings were held at his House. He pointed out that Dr. Iwu ,a consultant Pediatrics refused making available Congress forms with Former Chairman Alex Ukaraoha which enabled them Field their Cronies against unanimous  Harmonized Candidates.

Hon. Anyanwu disclosed that Ihitte / Uboma People Stormed the state H/Qrs to let the Appeal Panel understand the Deadly mission of Some Enemies of the Party. In his Words , we are going to Float a parallel Ward Exco  if impunity stands in our place,  In  short exodus of Members would be encouraged if these dirty acts Flourishes.

This gathering Storm is almost the same in  Amumara  Ward where Some Members threatened Pulling out. Isiala Mbano is not left out as Chief Stanly Ekezie a member of the Appeal panel Washed off his hands. He is quoted as saying to a colleague of his from Same LGA that his Voice is a lonely one like John the Baptist in the Wilderness. A tree can not make a Forest he intoned.

Our reporter tried to speak with Dr. Chinedu Iwu who responded that he was away to Jos on National Assignments. The Ihitte/ Uboma Apex Leader denied any Complicity adding that Congress is always a general Consensus. All in all, pundits are postulating that these developments are dangerous bumps on the PDP Road to 2023 general elections.
