… Accuse Cabinet Of Disrespect, Neglect
… May Meet Uzodinma After Recess
There appears to be a power tussle between the Imo State Lawmakers and the Appointees of the state Government.
Imo 9th Assembly under the speakership of Rt Hon Chiji Collins was before January 15th dominated by the PDP lawmakers but the majority of the House members decamped to the APC when Governor Hope Uzodinma was declared by the Supreme Court as the actual winner of the 2019 Governorship election in Imo State.
The Legislators who massively dumped the PDP with the notion to be relevant both in Government activities as well as in their legislative business were disappointed when the Appointees of Uzodinma who by virtue of their positions as elected House members from the Twenty Seven Local Governments of the State ought to see and address them as their Leaders now carry out Government activities both in the State and local governments without recourse to House of Assembly members Information to Lead revealed that some of the Appointees particularly the Interim Management Committee Chairmen have vowed not to relate with their House of Assembly Members who according to them only joined the APC to accrue favour from the government.
According to them, some of the House Members who have joined the APC today mal handled them during the campaigns and elections proper hence they would not be seen as their leaders.
This paper had it on good authority that some of the said Interim management Committee chairmen do not pick the calls of their house members let alone involving them in the APC activities.
Some of them are not aware of the series of palliatives which the Uzodinma’s government has given to Imo people to cushion the effects of Covid-19 let alone being parties to their sharing.
The affected lawmakers have resolved to meet Uzodinma probably after recess to look for an end to this neglect before the situation knows no bounds.
One of the Interim Management Committee chairmen who chose to speak on the guise of anonymity hinted lead that the House members who dumped their original political parties for the APC are not conversant or deep-rooted in the philosophy of the present administration due to their late entry to the party adding that if they are allowed to champion the affairs of the party as they aspire, in their various LGA’s Uzodinma’s mission for Imo people may not be achieved.
This disunity amongst the duo also affects the commissioners appointed by Uzodinma’s government.
Like the IMC chairmen, some of the Commissioners particularly those foot-soldiers of Uzodinma during the period of struggling see the House of Assembly members as opportunists who have joined the party either to have return tickets or to assume the leaders of the party.
This nonchalant attitude of the Appointees towards the House members as gathered by this paper has demarcated the house Members from the core APC members in the localities.
One of the House members hinted Lead that he would not have joined the APC from his original party if he had envisaged that such a treatment would be given to him despite the Governor Uzodinma’s appeal for them to join him to change the face and narratives of governance in Imo.
Midweek Lead further learned that the Imo Legislators of the APC extraction are now planning on the best way to report these attitudes of the Appointees to the Governor after their recess.
