Imo Govt. goes tough on illegal construction, others

The Imo State Government has issued a notice of warning to individuals who indulge in illegal construction of buildings and other physical improvements on lands which are subject matter of the Imo State White Paper on Lands and Related Matters.

In the public notice dated January 13, 2021 which was signed by the Honorable Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Chief Enyinna Onuegbu, and made available to Eastern Lead Express, the state government frowned at such activities stating that dubious individuals have commenced a scheme of purportedly selling or transferring non existent title to the unsuspecting members of the public.

The state government also reminded members of the public that any structure illegally constructed on any land affected by the directives of the white paper will be demolished without any compensation and individuals involved will be prosecuted for trespassing and distortion of the planning scheme.

By this notice, the state government warned the general public to desist from purchasing any of such properties being offered to them for sale at grossly under valued rates, saying such titles will not be registered by the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning.
