Delay in assigning Aides to Imo Deputy Governor in Imo appears to have become a tradition as Governor Uzodinma now toes the line of his predecessor Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who while in the office delayed in assigning political Aides to the then Deputy Governor, Gerald Irona.
Governor Hope Uzodinma who mounted the saddle of Imo State Governor on January 15th is yet to assign political Aides to his Deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku, an action which has been described in various quarters as uncalled for.
Although this paper could not come to terms with the reason behind the delay in assigning Aides to the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku at the time of filing this report but unconfirmed sources revealed to Lead that the Governor was still searching for the best Aides to be assigned to him and that in no distant time, the names of the Aides would be announced.
Speaking with the Lead, one of the chieftains of the APC in Imo who would not want his name in print revealed that some of the people who expected to work with the Deputy Governor as Aides are gradually giving up since both the Governor and His Deputy have not opened up on whether Aides would be assigned to him or not.
He further pointed out that the Governor should consider appointing Aides to his Deputy without further delay hence such would also serve as an edge to Governor’s structure in Mbaike where the Deputy hails and Imo in general.
According to the speaker, if there is an election in Imo State today it would be hard for the Deputy Governor to bring in people for the Governor because at the moment, he has not been assigned Aides and it is only when these Aides are in place the structure of the ruling party is made solid
