Imo CP calls for partnership in fight against crime

The new Commissioner of Police of Imo state command, Cp Hussaini Rabiu has said he will partner with stateholders to bring lasting peace in the state and reduce crime to its bearest minimum in the state.

Speaking during a press briefing in Owerri recently, the new CP disclosed that his   assumption of office as the thirty Ninth (39th) Commissioner of Police, Imo State Police Command, will make positive impact both in the command and state at large.

According to him, ” Upon his  assumption of office I met a relatively peaceful state owing to the administrative and operational dexterity of my predecessor CP Abutu Yaro, fdc even as . I therefore wish him well in his subsequent endeavors. I also met a group of hardworking, dedicated, loyal and determined officers, of which I am optimistic that with the crop of officers on ground, Imo State will continue to be peaceful”. 

He added that the last few days has been tasking, owing to the activities of the remnants of the ESN/IPOB terror group in the state which coincided with his assumption of duty, as they had to tackle it head long to ensure that peace and tranquility continue to reign in the state.

In his words, “through the grace and mercy of the Almighty God as well as the collaborative efforts of the Military and other sister security agencies in the state, normalcy have returned to Imo State”.

Cp. Hussaini said he is aware of the crime situation in the state, being a two-time Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations Department, Imo State and reassured Imolites that under his watch as the Commissioner of Police, the Command will ensure that all Imo residents sleep with both eye closed.

He further stated that, “the command shall engage and partner with stakeholders in various communities to ensure their involvement in the policing of their environment inline with IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), fdc, npm mandate on community policing and people oriented policing principle. “The command during my tenure shall also focus on intelligence led and visibility policing which will give room for a more result oriented and proactive policing approach”.

 He further assured that, he shall ensure quick and timely response to distress calls and robust patrol, as they shall continue to partner with all sister security agencies to achieve tranquility within Imo State.

He also made it clear that, “there shall be zero tolerance to extortion along the highways or any other corrupt practices from officers, there shall also be zero tolerance to crime and criminalities as such, we shall take the battle against criminality to the den and hide-outs of the hoodlums”, he submitted.

The Imo Police Boss further assured that the command under his watch shall take issues of human rights seriously. To this end, informed ‘Ndi- Imo’ that any officer who infringes on the rights of the members of the public will have himself  to contend with.

In view of this, he  implore members of the public to avail themselves the use of the X-Squad and the Public Complaints Bureau domiciled in the office of the Police Public Relations Officer on phone No. 08037166122, to report any unethical or unprofessional conduct of Police officers or any other genuine grievances.

Sequel to the above, he ensured  Imolites that the command shall tackle crime and criminality vigorously, and he made  bold to say that there will be no hiding place for criminals anywhere in Imo state.

He however, thanked Imolites for their peaceful disposition, and appealed to them for their support, especially in the area of information as the command shall continue to make Imo a safe place for business to thrive.

Even as he  used  this opportunity to thank the Executive Governor of Imo State, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, for his support and assistance to the Police Command and other sister security agencies in Imo State for the synergy and support in boosting the internal security of Imo State. He therefore implore all Imolites to remain peaceful and law abiding.
