Imo Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Others may lose Seat as APGA goes to Court

Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chiji Collins, Deputy Speaker, Hon Amarachi Iwuanyanwu and four other Members who were elected under APGA may soon lose their Seats as the party has concluded every necessary arrangement to sue them to Court for Recall/Declaration of their Seats Vacant for abandoning the party to APC.

Briefing journalists in Owerri on Friday at APGA Office, Hon John Iwuala, who is the Imo State Chairman of APGA, revealed that APGA has gotten needed documents from the Independent National Electoral Commission to proceed to Court of Law to legally declare vacant Seats of all the six Assembly Members who dumped the party under which they were elected during the 2019 General Election.

Iwuala stressed that the Constitution of APGA prohibits such an unwarranted action against the party “when there was no crisis in APGA to had warranted their defection to another party that fought them during the 2019 election”.

According to Iwuala, APGA is ready to “ask the Court to declare the Seats of the six Imo Assembly Members who left APGA Vacant and conduct fresh election. Nothing can stop the party from taking Fire Brigade Approach for their recall in court as they lack the loco standi to leave a party that brought them to power”.

He hinted that APGA had vowed to teach the decamped Assembly Members unforgettable lessons, regretting that “gone are days when members would play dirty with APGA again”, saying nothing would stop the party from taking severe action against members who ridicule APGA. In a related development, Imo APGA Covid-19 Palliative Committee has been formerly inaugurated with the mandate of ensuring that Imo citizens especially the poor are relieved from pinching hunger occasioned by the ravaging coronavirus. Although, the Palliative is tagged “Operation Feed the Poor in Imo State”, having sound and trusted membership. The Central Planning Committee is headed by Hon John Iwuala with Mrs Maria Mbanuzuo and Pastor Alphonsus Eberendu as Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively. Swearing- in the Imo APGA Covid-19 Committee members, Barr Finta, a lover of APGA, instructed them to ensure that they carry out their assignment dutifully with human face so that those who need the Palliatives would get them to cushion the effects of hunger arising from coronavirus pandemic.

The Committee also has Sub-committees which are Diaspora Committee (headed by Mrs Nkemdiri Onyirimba), Contact and Mobilization Committee(headed by Chief Eric), Publicity Committee (headed by Hon Emeka Nkwoada) including Security and Disabled Persons Committees which would be looked into subsequently. The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Hon John Iwuala, urged all well- meaning persons particularly those of Igbo extraction to donate to the Palliative to cushion hunger among the needy to move on. Promising to work sincerely in order to relieve some Imo indigents from excruciating hunger, Hon Emeka Nkwoada, who is the APGA Publicity Secretary, Mrs Uchenna O, Mr Sylvester Chukwubuike Nwokoro and Nduka V.A Anyanwu, stated that they shall not disappoint the party even as they eulogized the APGA State Chairman, Hon John Iwuala, for being pragmatic and meticulous, remarking that APGA is the only party in Imo State to give relief food items including hygiene kits to people.
