… Appeal Court Reserves Judgement
Sooner than later, the protracted leadership tussle between Daniel Nwafor, the elected State Chairman of the APC in Imo, and Marcellinus Nlemigbo, the Caretaker committee chairman, of the same Imo APC would know there fate as the High Court Abuja had at the last hearing reserved judgment.
Nlemigbo led caretaker had upon the recent judgment of the High Court which confirmed Dan Nwafor as the authentic State Chairman of the APC in Imo dragged him to the Court of Appeal Abuja, praying amongst others, for the lower Court judgment that upheld Nwafor as the state’s chairman of the party, bet set aside.
The said suit with suit no, CA/ABJ’CV/657/2020, was heard last Thursday and Friday after which judgment was reserved and the parties were informed to be communicated on the date of the judgment soon.
Dan Nwafor had gone to court in 2018 to challenge the substitution of the State Working Committee of the APC with caretaker even when his tenure would as the elected executive would elapse in 2022.
The Federal High Court Abuja however gave judgment in his favor which the other party rejected and appealed against.
National Leadership of the APC had on the verge of the entrance of senator Uzodinma to APC from the PDP dissolved the Leadership of the party in Imo chaired by Nwafor, and replaced them with the caretaker with Nlemigbo as the caretaker chairman, an act which Nwafor led Executive viewed as unconstitutional and proceeded to court against it.
This action however led to a parallel executive in the party, while the Uzodinma’s supporters align with Nlemigbo, the supporters of former Governor Okorocha align with Nwafor.
