Former speaker, Bankole set to defect to APC

Ahead of the 2023 Elections, Politicians have begun pitching their tents to enable them, launch their political ambitions.

Most of the party defections have occurred in great numbers from the PDP and other parties to the ruling party, APC, adding up with the current registration and revalidation exercise on-going in the APC.

There are strong indications that another party, the Action Democratic Party, is going to loose one of their political cornerstone, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Oladimeji Bankole to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is a development believed to happen soonest, after a meeting between the former Speaker, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee who is also the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and his Jigawa State counterpart, Abubakar Badaru, in Abuja, on Friday.

It was disclosed by the Director-General in charge of Media to the Yobe State Governor, Mallam Mohammed Mamman, that the three leaders met at the private residence of the Yobe State governor.

In a statement, Mamman said, “The Chairman APC Caretaker Committee, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, today hosted former Speaker House of Representatives, Oladimeji Bankole and Jigawa State Governor Alh. Abubakar Badaru.

“The three leaders discussed a wide range of political issues including the movement of the former Speaker and his supporters into the party.

“It is evident that APC’s opportunities in Ogun state are growing and widening. It would be recalled that former Governor of Ogun state, Otumba Gbenga Daniel who was also former Director-General of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar Presidential campaign organization has recently joined the party.”
