FG Not Ready TO Resume Schools-Nwajuba, Disowns June 8 Date

The date for resumption of schools in Nigeria is not yet at hand as the Federal Government has informed Nigerians that it is yet to fix a date of resumption.

Speaking to Journalists last Wednesday, the junior Minister of Education.

Nwajuba said, given the rampaging coronavirus in Nigeria, that the Federal Government is yet to fix a date for resumption pointing out that students would not be exposed to the danger of Covid-19.

Nwajuba who disowned the initial date that schools would resume by June 8, revealed that Federal Government is adopting a shift system which according to him would encourage social distancing as one of the measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

He further pointed out that the Federal Government is considering resumption of school in two batches where those preparing for exams would first resume before others.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has announced the death of one of its own, the President of the Nigeria Christian Graduates Fellowship, NCGF, Prof. Charles Adisa.
In a statement made available to the media today and signed by CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle,Prof. Adisa will be greatly missed by CAN as he will always be remembered for his contributions to the Christian fight for the restoration of the teaching of the Christian Religious Knowledge in public schools, the fight against the controversial RUGA settlements, the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, and the federal government’s lopsided appointments.

Bishop Emeritus of Orlu is dead

The Bishop Emeritus of the Orlu Catholic Diocese in Imo State, the Most Rev. Gregory Ochiagha, is dead.

This was made known in a statement from the Secretariat of the Orlu Catholic Diocese.

According to the statement which was made available to Lead Express, Rev. Ochiagha died at the Annunciation Hospital in Enugu where he had gone for a medical check-up.

Aged 88, Bishop Ochiagha (rtd) had, for sometime, been battling with minor health issues associated with old age.

He hailed from Mbano in Imo State.
