Buhari Campaign D/G Joins Okigwe Senatorial Race

There were jubilations, Monday 20th July 2020 when president Mohammadu Buhari’s former campaign D/G in Imo State, Sir Frank Ibezim Joined the League of Aspirants On the Bye-Election for Imo North Senatorial District (Okigwe Zone) 2020 coming up soon.  Our correspondent reports that the Imo North bye-elections has gathered momentum as more political egg-heads have indicated their intention to prick APC party flag for the contest that has tended to tear APC structures apart in the state.

The Ezeoke – Nsu born political bigwig told the APC crowd that his aspiration is born out of the fact that Okigwe Zone has suffered due to factors such as poor representation, incompetence and unnecessary squabbles and the recent death of Senator Ben Uwajimogu last year. He appealed for understanding under the present exigencies that need co-operations, the teamwork of party leadership in Imo state, and the federal government under P.M.B.

Sir Frank Ibezim, who also is a former Imo state commissioner for Agriculture stated or rather described Okigwe zone as disadvantaged due to absence of Quality Representative who will synergize with Imo State government that has laid footprints opening the Socio-Economic Frontiers to fight abject poverty to create wealth for our people through skills acquisition.

Chef Ibezim noted that Imo state and is blessed with an APC minister from Okigwe whose goodwill at the presidency needs active support and collaboration to harness the Economic potentials of Okigwe zone.

The senatorial Hopeful assured the Imo APC faithful that about 150 hectares of Rice farm is already mapped out for the CBN Agric loan farmers in the zone as well as the 1st pilot federal government Solar powered electricity project for small scale industries with a capacity of 460 kilowatts that will power more than 100 houses located at Ihitte/Uboma LGA.

He disclosed that the National Open University (NOU) has a program that will impact skill acquisitions to our youths, tended to fight the 25% Unemployment ratio amongst our people.

Asked how to riggle out of the impending Crisis among APC party Bigwigs, Sir Ibezim assured that the time for politics has not yet come as what Imo state and Okigwe zone needs now is a strong link to National Grid.

 In his words, the new national leadership of APC for the zone to support Hope Uzodinma to move the State High. Imo state is the only APC stronghold in both South – East and South/South hence a capable and friendly voice at the Senate is our desire.

Imo state caretaker APC chairman, Prince, Barrister Marcon Nlemigbo, Hon. Celestine Ugochukwu Nzekwe, Chief  L.N. Iroha, Rt. Hon. Barr. Amaechi Nwoha, Dr. Mrs. Love Ineh, Chief Dom Uzowuru, Hon. Regis Uwakwe, Chief Jim Isilebo (JB) and Hon. Engr. Francis Chukwu, Chief Bright Nwaelue, Hon. Dan Uchenna Enuele and many other APC faithfuls graced that day.

Chief Nlemigbo, Imo APC chairman in his speech expressed satisfaction with the aspirant describing him as a noble politician. He urged Okigwe Leaders to observe capacity, transparency, and loyalty in their selection. Chief Nlemigbo stated that Imo APC is supportive of credible Aspirants who understand the vision of senator Hope Uzodinma to deliver the state from the Backward level to the next level.

Earlier, Imo state APC former secretary, Dr (Mrs) Love Ineh described Sir Frank Ibezim as a worthy party man that has experience at NASS.

Barr. Amaechi Nwoha in his own goodwill message told the Imo APC leaders that Okigwe senatorial seat is of strategic importance for true consolidation of 3 R mantra.

55-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Jos

The police in Plateau state have arrested a 55-year-old man, Abdulhamid Sale, pictured above for allegedly raping seven teenagers in Bukuru community of Jos South local government area.

A youth leader in the community, Aliyu Hassan, said the suspect was arrested after one of the mothers of his victim reported the matter to members of the vigilante group in the community.

“The arrest of the suspect came after a report by a mother to one of the victims to the vigilante group in the area that she saw her daughter with a phone and felt that something was wrong.

After a thorough investigation, we found out that the phone was given to the girl by the said Abdulhamid Sale, and further checks revealed that he raped seven girls, mostly 13 years old in Kugiya area of Bukuru, who are mostly hawkers, by luring them with as little as 50 Naira, and small Tecno Phones”Aliyu said

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said the suspect is in the custody of the police and would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.

#EndSARS: Court stops prosecution of Pastor Sam Adeyemi, Davido, and others

A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory has stopped the prosecution of Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre, Burna Boy, Davido, Falz, activist Deji Adeyanju and others over the #EndSARS protest. 

The High Court ordered a Magistrate court to immediately stop proceedings and stay action against 50 persons who supported the #EndSARS protests, following a criminal complaint filed by lawyer Kenechuhwu Okeke. 

Okeke in his suit alleged that during the riot,  properties were destroyed and the defendants who promoted the #EndSARS protests must be held responsible for it and also brought to justice.

Justice Bello Kawu who delivered a judgment on the application filed by Activist Deji Adeyanju (one of the defendants) for a judicial review of the substantive matter before the magistrate, said; 

“An order of this honourable court granting leave to the application to issue and serve on the defendant an application for judicial review against the proceedings/direct criminal complaint of Hon. Omolola Tolulope Akindele sitting at Chief Magistrate Court II, Wuse Zone 6 in the suit of Kenechukwu Okeke Vs Deji Adeyanju and 49 others in suit No. CR/49/2020.

“An order of this honourable court, that on the grant of the above orders herein, serve as stay of all proceedings on the direct criminal complaint Omolola Tolulope Akindele sitting at Chief Magistrate Court II, Wuse Zone 6 in the suit of Kenechukwu Okeke Vs Deji Adeyanju and 49 others in suit no. CR/49/2020.

“An order of this honourable court, that on the grant of the above orders herein, same order as granted by the honourable court shall restrain the Nigeria Police Force, 2nd and 3rd defendants from taking any further steps, arresting and or taking any unconstitutional/illegal steps in the form of any guise as it concerns the subject matters whatsoever before this court herein as it concerns all parties in the proceedings.”
