Special Adviser on Entertainment to the Governor of Imo state Hon. Bobby Michaels has reiterated that his office is open for consultation and partnership from every stakeholder of the entertainment industry in Imo state.
He stated this during his maiden meeting with all the stakeholders of the entertainment industry in Owerri on Tuesday 21, July 2020 at Bongo center.
Hon. Michaels said that his appointment by Governor Sen. Hope Uzodinma is not a mistake stressing that he had been in the entertainment industry for a long period hence have gathered a wealth of experience both local and International which will help to turn around the industry.
According to him, we will ensure a free operation for everyone because our Governor is accessible and I want to behave like him, we also noticed a short performance in the entertainment sector by the previous government due to lack of synergy.
This administration is anchored on shared prosperity, we will make sure everyone is carried along in government functions especially our home-based artists so as to encourage them.
Since I resumed office I have been able to restore peace and unity in some divided union, the aim is to discourage sycophancy, quarrels among one another and bring everybody on one page to enable us to achieve progress in the industry, he said.
The convener of the meeting Mr. Christopher Osuji (MC Aweelo) in his speech noted that the stakeholder’s forum is made up of leaders in Actors Guild, Musicians, MC’s, Comedians, Hype MC, DJ, Bloggers, Cinematographers, models and others adding they have formed a think-tank to propose ideas that will take entertainment to another level in Imo state.
He further commended the Special Adviser on entertainment Hon. Bobby Michaels for his open-door policy saying that it is key to growth and development.
He also expressed confidence in his capacity to add value in the entertainment industry of the state while suggesting that the meeting should be held regularly for the review of projects and prospects.
In his speech, Mr. Ugo Stevenson a theater Artist and musician pointed out that it is the first time Imo state government is appointing a Special Adviser on entertainment describing it as a credit to entertainers in the state.
” Entertainment in Imo is yet to be tapped, while we have all it takes, we need to change level in the industry, and I believe we now have SA that will work with us, he said.
However, he pledged their commitment and support to the office of the Special Adviser on entertainment adding that such office can not be managed effectively by someone who is alien to the industry.
