At last Imo Police Open Up On Detained Lawmaker, Accuse Him Of Assaulting D. Speaker, 2 Others



Imo police command has at last opened up the detained but released Ohaji Egbema Lawmaker who before he was granted bail spent few days in the police net.

This is even as the police accused him of assaulting the Imo State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. CHyna Iwuanyanwu amongst two others.

Imo Assembly as well as Imo people reacted differently when the news of arrest and detention of the Ohaji Egbema lawmaker, Hon. Heclus Okoro broke out.

Heclus Okoro who allegedly was a loyalist to the immediate former Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chiji Collins according to the police came to Imo State Government House during the presentation of the new speaker Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem where he angrily created scene and commotion probably in revenge of the impeachment of his former boss, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins.

The Imo state Police Command has cleared the  air on the recent rumours on the alleged arrest of the honourable member representing the people of Ohaji Ebgema at state house of assembly, Hon. Cyriacus Okoro and four other people , this is contained in a press statement made available to newsmen by the state commissioner of police, Cp Isaac Akinmoyede, through the command’s Police Publice Relations Officer , Sp Ikeokwu Godson Orlando .

He noted with dismay that the command has  been inundated  with  comments on various social media  platforms as well as other media,  regarding the arrest and arraignment of  a  member of the Imo state  House of Assembly, Hon. Cyriacus Okoro as such giving it different  interpretations and meanings  as it suits the writers/posters.

According to him,   for the purpose of clarity, the Command received a report from the Principal Chief Security Officer to the Governor, DSP Adamu Shaba that after the impeachment of the former speaker, Hon. Chiji Collins and the subsequent election of the new speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, the house members moved to the Government House to present the new speaker to the Governor.

Adding that he further stated that one of the house members, Hon Cyriacus Okoro  appeared in company of four (4) of his aides, armed with a dagger hitherto conceal in a walking stick and stones, and assaulted the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu. In the process he injured one Fahad Bature an operative of the Department of State Security (DSS) and one Uzoigwe Emmanuel a driver attached to government house.

Stressing  that, pursuant to the report, the Commissioner of Police CP Isaac O. Akinmoyede ordered investigation into the matter at the conclusion of which the suspects were arraigned in court.

Even as he made it clear that, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, empowers the Nigeria Police to arrest and investigate anyone found formenting trouble anywhere within Nigeria, or arrest and investigate  any allegations against  any person(s) such as the case in question. The Command shall continue to ensure that justice is done to anyone seeking  for it.

Cp Akinmoyede ,  therefore advised members of the public  to  disregard all the falsehood  being  spread across social  media platforms as well as other media. Maintaining that,  the Command’s  loyalty to “ndi Imo” and the Nigeria nation remains absolute.

Change Security Chiefs , Wike Urges FG



Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has approached the Federal Government to change the Security Chiefs to give space for new thoughts and methodology in handling the dangers of internal security.

“Our dearest nation is still together, existing and waxing stronger as one unified, free, and democratic nation in light of your responsibility and sacrifice to its solidarity and progress.

“As Nigerians, our collective desire is to have a nation where we would all be able to live in solidarity, freedom and security. A nation where our kids and grandkids can live in relative comfort and take a stab at a more promising time to come,” he expressed.

Governor Wike expressed the need to have a lasting reward framework for officers and men of the Armed Forces to encourage them in their sacrifices to the nation.

He said his administration has kept on executing such financial support strategy for security personnel of Rivers origin as a result of the worth it puts on the selfless sacrifices they make to keep Nigeria united and in harmony.
