Artists To Partner With Imo Govt –Michaels

A group of creative artists from Imo state under the auspice of Omenka Ndi Imo Contemporary Art, on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Entertainment Hon. Bobby Michaels.

The President of the group Mr. Cyriacus Okebudu in his speech said their aim is to revolutionalize diverse interest in the art industry.

According to him, we also promote tourism, art, craft, and painting, in our capacity, we train some Interested Imo Youths in drawing, craft, painting and we do it free of charge, he said.

He further commended the Governor for appointing Hon. Bobby Michaels as his Special Adviser on Entertainment stressing that their group is willing to partner with his office to draw Imo youths out from the street through art.

Responding, Special Adviser to Governor on Entertainment Hon. Bobby Michaels said that the government of His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodinma is Youth driven adding that he appointed Youths in various positions of his government to ensure that they are carried along in his shared prosperity agenda.

This is the administration has come to reconstruct, rehabilitate and recover, the Governor made it clear at his inauguration and he has shown great commitment towards that cause, a lot of construction work is going on the state now, just recently the Governor awarded two major roads in the state to Julius Berger a foremost construction company, I believe the Governor is on the verge to record achievement as it were during the era of late Sam Mbakwe, he said.

However, he assured the group that his office will give them every necessary support hence for the benefit of Imo youths and propagation of the present government while urging them to always be good ambassadors of the state.

Agbodike Assures Multi-Purpose Event Centre As Awo Idemili Clan Holds End Of Year Party

The indigenes of Awo-idemili Clan in Orsu Local Government Area, Imo state held her end of the year party to celebrate God’s goodness on the clan including the appointment of her member, Chief Barr. Sir Cyprian Okechukwu Charles Akaolisa, an Owerri based legal practitioner, as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Imo state.

Declaring the Occasion open at the Civic Centre Project site, on Sunday, December 5, 2020 in Owerri, the Chairman of Awo-Idemili Progress Union(APU) Owerri branch, Barr. Norbert Onyebuchi Agbodike, who incidentally is an Owerri based legal practitioner emphasized on the need for the members to support the clan’s developmental initiative as well as the genuine drivers of this development.

 Barr. Agbodike reiterated that the idea of a Civic/Events Center project is a pragmatic step taken towards making the association self-sustaining, realizing the fall outs from the post-COVID-19 global economy. According to him, Leadership at best presently demands greater dynamism towards harnessing potentials to achieve massive wealth creation, and further, create a track for future generations- especially as numerous Awo-idemili sons and daughters make the capital city their choice destination. He quipped that a clan like Awo-idemili is suited to have a landmark project in the Imo capital city and declared his readiness to lift the fortunes of the association to an enviable height.

Obviously his call for support from the members towards completing the ongoing project elicited wild jubilation, with many applauding the bold steps of Barr. Agbodike and the passion to see the association take her pride of place in Owerri Capital City.

Also, he applauded the efforts of the Law Maker representing Orsu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Ekene F. Nnodumele, in his avowed commitment towards the development of the clan, including human resources.

Speaking on the association and the ongoing project as embarked upon, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Barr. Sir C.O.C Akaolisa maintained that the landmark achievement of the present Awo-idemili clan leadership in Owerri would be the timely realization of the two-storey building event centre. He expressed optimism on the ability of Barr. Agbodike’s leadership to steer the ship of the association to successfully deliver on the project. Also, he enjoined the indigenes of Awo-Idemili Clan and other good spirited individuals to continue in their support to the present Shared prosperity administration as piloted by Governor Hope Uzodinma in Imo state.

On his own, Hon Ekene F. Nnodumele, representing Orsu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly commended the Barr. Agbodike’s led the executive in her commitment to reposition the association in Owerri, and further create value for money through such a legacy project. He said that the call by His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma to Corporate entities and Donor agencies towards taking the opportunity in the friendly business environment in the state is what the Awo-idemili Clan in Owerri has answered. He enjoined good spirited indigenes and friends to support the realization of a multi-purpose event centre as designed.

Moreso, the President General of Confederation of Awo-idemili Clan Communities, Nze Anayo Onwuamaizu, commended the bold step taken by Awo-Idemili indigenes resident in Owerri. According to him, the present focus of the clan is on development and applauded the bold step taken by Owerri branch through the Barr. Agbodike led Exco.

Equally former Executive Chairman of Orsu L.G. A, Hon. Ndubuisi Okonkwo thanked the Agbodike led executive and the members for the support towards the landmark event center under construction.

The occasion attracted numerous persons including Mr. Terrance Onyejiaku, the S.A. to the Governor On ICT, Mr. Cyril Nwanojuo, Hon Paully Anyionu, Chief Alphonsus Nnaekezie, Mr. Linus Nnoruo, Mr. Izunna Okani (Chairman, End of the Year Party Committee), and others.

Ama Ofuo Masqurade Receives Ogbuagu Rank

Saturday 28th of February 2020 was a very memorable day in Amaofuo, as different types of masquerades from both Imo and Anambra states  gathered to celebrate the new Ogbuagu rank given to their  masqurade by the Ozoebule masquerade group.

Speaking to journalists during the event, the  chief host , who is also the traditional ruler of Amaofuo autonomous community in Oru west Local Government Area of Imo state , HRM Eze Prof. Peter Onyekwere Ebigbo, Eze nwokeoma, Ezeanaroaro, Ogbuehi Vi of Amaofuo, expressed delight, describing the event as a great way of showcasing and  promoting the cultural heritage of the land.

Eze Ebigbo also stressed the need for people to love and value the cultures and traditions of the land, adding that , faith without culture is faith not received. pointing out that he is a christian, a knight of the Roman  catholic ,  his father was a catechist and he was almost  ordained a  priest, but yet it didn’t stop him from loving and respecting  the culture of his land, because he sees nothing wrong in taking part or promoting one’s cultures and tradition.

He further disclosed that, he decided to bring the culture into the church , modify it and get rid of every fetish thing about the masquerade, because according to him the people like the masquerades because it is fun and brings so much joy to the people  , that is why he became a patron of the  Mmanu Ozoebule with the headquarters at ukpor and Chief Mbadike Amaechi is their overall leader.

The royal father also stated that, there are different ranks in the masquerade cult, and they have different types of Ekwuru where the masquerades live, they have Eze mmanu, Okoro mmanu, Etiaba, Akakpu and so many other masquerades, stressing that, the masquerades are used in deriving levies, maintaing peace ,  order and also discipline people who go contrary to the law of the community, it is seen as their local police. Adding that they have different ranks in the masquerade cult, like Ozo and they are respected according to their ranks and Ogbuagu is the highest rank.

Eze Ebigbo futher disclosed that, all the masquerades were welcomed with gun salutes, Each titled Ezemmuo is receivedvwith two canon shots on arrival but four  for each of the two masquerades who already have been conferred with Ogbuagu title,  When Akarugo rises to go to the arena for the title accompanied by other Eze mmuos filing out in order of their ranks, sixteen canons are fired but when Akarugo has taken the title, twenty one gun canons are fired  Even as he noted that because of the hardship in the country, anything that will bring smile on the face of people is good, adding that he makes sure that the people are wearing their face mask and observed other covid-19 rules.

He therefore advised people to be proud of their identity by, show casing their cultural heritage and partake in it, pointing out that any one without culture  lives a fake life, adding that culture doesn’t stop one from being a christian, rather it shows you have a root, your identity, you home land, your pride. He concluded.
