In a bid to ascertain in actuality who and how the alleged N19.93 billion Naira belonging to the Local Government Accounts was embezzled during the administration of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the Imo State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts has invited, the former Special Assistant to the Governor on Bureau for Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs, Chukwudi Mayor Eze, former Commissioner, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs before the committee on Monday 15 June 2020.
Others invited are permanent secretary (political Office SSG) John Njoku, the Regional Manager, Zenith bank PLC, bank Road Owerri amongst others.
In a release signed by the chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts. And member representing Oru East in the state House, Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri and made available to weekend lead, the invitees are to meet the committee at the office of the chairman by 10 am.
Recall, that Imo State House of Assembly had upon receipt of the report pf the Auditor General of the Local Government over the alleged missing N19.63 Billion charged the Public Accounts Committee to carry out an investigation on what led to the alleged missing of the said fund.
In the bid to do so, the committee has been inviting the people concerned for investigation and interrogation for some time now.
While this investigation is on, a lot of comments have emanated from the general public.
While some particularly the opposition party sees the moves as a plot to ridicule the immediate past administration others are of the view that such investigation should be allowed to carry out and those concerned at the end of the exercise should be brought to book.
