Ajumbe Emerges ALVAN Alumni Governing Council Rep.

Prof Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe has been elected as the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri IMO State Alumni Association representative at the Institution’s Governing Council.

This followed his victory in the election conducted by the Association to choose their representative in their sole slot at the Council.

Ajumbe polled 83 out of the 117 accredited Votes cast, beating two other candidates,Engr Egbuhuzor Kelechi Jude who polled twenty (20) Votes and Emma Ochiagha who got fourteen (14) votes

 Prof Orikeze Ajumbe was immediately Sworn-in by Barr Angus China Mgbemere, who was also the Electoral Committee Secretary. followed by the presentation of a Certificate of Return to him by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr Romanus Ezeala who is also the Dean School of Early childhood Care and Primary Education and was the Returning Officer in the election

In his acceptance Speech, Prof Ajumbe dedicated his victory to the two other Candidates for exhibiting an unparalleled sportsmanship and assured of his ability to deliver on his mandate as the ALUMNI REPRESENTATIVE AT GOVERNING COUNCIL.

In his own address, the National President of the Alumni Association, Comrade Charles Ejiogu, expressed regrets that there was no female Candidate this time

He eulogized for Representatives in the person’s of Dr Mrs Meg Ewuzie, Sir JB Ugochukwu and others for their efforts when they were in Council.

Comrade Ejiogu urged Prof Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe to be magnanimous in Victory by carrying everyone along in the scheme of things and charged every Alumni Association Member to get a copy of the Association’s Constitution.

Prof Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe who is a successful business Man, who owns and runs the BEATON Music RecordingSTUDIOS, studied Music in the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri IMO State.

Other Members of the Alumni Association ELECTORAL Committee are Chief DR Okeafor Stanley Iheanacho, Mrs Amaechi Joy Ebere and Mrs Ndukwu Julia C.

Senate confirms Bawa as EFCC Chairman

The Senate, after a two-hour session on Wednesday at plenary confirmed the appointment of Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission.

Bawa was nominated for the role by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Speaking during the screening, the new Chairman denied an allegation that he sold the seized property in EFCC custody at its Port Harcourt Zonal office.

He said the seized property in Port Harcourt were properly disposed off by the agency’s officials from its headquarters.

Fresh Attacks: Gunmen attack Niger communities

Still handling the tears caused by some gunmen who kidnapped some Kagara school students, another attack, has been launched at Some Communities in the Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of the same Niger State.

New Attack: Gunmen attack Niger communities

On Wednesday evening, Sarkin Zama, Bakin Kogi (Lagbe), Siyiko, and other adjoining villages were invaded by gunmen, who stormed the villages in their large numbers.

Some unverified casualties were recorded as the operation lasted for hours.

Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Kokki, said some died while others who sustained various degrees of gunshot injuries were rushed to various health facilities for medical attention.

Kokki said scores of others were also abducted and taken to unknown destinations.

“Countless deadly attacks have become daily occurrences, thereby compelling the affected victims to live at the mercy of hydra-headed monsters. Defenceless, unarmed, and peaceful locals have been abandoned to their fate,” Kokki added.

Gunmen Break Into Niger School, Abducts Students, Staff

Some students and staff of Government Science Secondary School, Kagara, headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, have been abducted by gunmen.

It was gathered that the attackers invaded the school around 2am on Wednesday.

A witness said a student, who tried to escape lost his loss through a gunshot while some others were injured but on our own, we cannot give verification to this claim.

Commenting on the abduction, Shehu Sani, a former Senator, said he has spoken with the principal of the school who confirmed the incident to be true.

The incident took place 48 hours after 21 passengers heading to Minna, capital of Niger State, were held hostage in broad daylight.

While they were released on Tuesday, news of fresh abductions in the state was received.

The high rate of insecurity in the nation has been a source of concern but all efforts to check the trend have not yielded the desired results.

Recently, President Muhammadu Buhari replaced the service chiefs he appointed in 2015 but insecurity hasn’t stopped under the new service chiefs.

Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi Yobe State, and Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, are some of the schools where gunmen have abducted students in the past.
