The IMC Chairman of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Hon. Chief Larry Obinna Chikwe has once again restated the resolve of his administration to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people of the local govt.
Hon. Chikwe who inspected the Afor-Oru and other markets in the LGA observed that traders and most locals are not complying with Covid-19 Social Distancing and Nose-Mask rules in the markets as well as other accident Hazards.
The LG Boss warned that the LG may be forced to close down the market on two reasons – Viz:, Covid-19 rules and the dangers on Trading on the major High way instead of using the shops inside the market.
In his words, no responsible government would turn blind eyes to acts that will endanger the lives of her citizens.
The IMC chairman also stated that Imo Local Govts are going to witness a new Dawn soon with the commencement of Renovation of Decayed infrastructures as Directed by the Bureau on Local Govts and Chieftaincy Matters.
One the issue of Ogbosisi (Timber market) at Afor-Oru, Chief Chikwe assured that efforts are being made to relocate them to a more suitable site soon. TO match the active removal of shanties in the markets will start next week.
He used the occasion to warn traders at Afor Oru and Afor Ogbe to please cooperate with the state govt and his administration by desisting from suing High way as shops.
