Oguta APC leaders have reaffirmed support for the government of Senator Hope Uzodinma.

This is even as they declared nonexistence of opposition to the area.

Oguta APC leaders led by Bishop Azogu as the Governor’s Peace Emissary in Oguta LGA had a few months ago declared their unalloyed support for Uzodinma after enumerating kind gesture of the governor to Oguta people.

Oguta leaders chart a new political course: Align with APC Declares total support for Gov Uzodinma.

Billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Chief (Barr) Sam Oduh Ezediaro, KSM convened a meeting of Oguta leaders of thought at his Oguta Country home at the weekend aimed at strengthening APC and widening the acceptability of Governor Uzodinma in the community. Ogbuagu Ezediaro told the leaders and elders of his community that it is no longer fashionable to flow with the opposition saying Oguta must realign politically in tandem with emerging realities and join progressive communities across the Country to flow with the center in the superior interest of the community and future generations. The former Land Manager of the oil giant, Texaco Nigeria Ltd thanked the Ogene of Oguta (the title of the eldest man of Oguta), the village heads, cabinet chiefs, elders and leaders of the community including youth/women leaders for honoring his invitation and urged them to work together as a progressive family so as to give Oguta community a new lease of life.

Also speaking, the facilitator of the meeting, Bishop Udo Azogu who is also the Governor’s peace emissary in Oguta LGA thanked participants for their resolve to chart a new course and free themselves and future generations from the shackles of opposition politics – assuring them of the great freedom, peace, and progress they will enjoy in APC under ‘our brother Governor’, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma. Bishop Azogu said he and Barr Ezediaro have decided to massively mobilize Oguta people from across the board to inject new blood into APC, Oguta community and give unqualified support to the 3Rs of shared prosperity government of Governor Hope Uzodinma as well as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari despite the huge failure APC recorded in the community during the 2019 general elections. Bishop Azogu told leaders and elders of the community that APC, Oguta under Governor Uzodinma will grow to intimidating heights with unshackled access to democratic deliverables from relevant development agencies. He said Governor Hope Uzodinma is the first Governor to work towards recovering oil wells in Imo State which are under the control of Rivers State Government resulting in a substantial increase in revenue generation for both the State and the community – being the biggest oil-producing community in the State.

Representatives of various strata of Oguta community viz: Ogbuagu, Oshiji, Damanze, the Clergy, Youth, and Women leaders spoke in turns to support the present administration of Senator Hope Uzodinma in delivering the goods. The Ogene of Oguta who is the leader of all the 27 Village heads of Oguta, in his goodwill prayer, assured the Governor of the unflinching resolve of the community to give his administration the needed support to deliver while pleading with the Governor to carry the community along in the scheme of things. However, some personalities who spoke during the meeting expressed deep reservations over the strained relations between the three senior appointees of the State Government from the community who claim to be working for the Governor – urging the convener of the meeting to bring them together so that they can function as one united family and consolidate the support base for APC and the Governor in the oil-rich community. The gathering had in attendance notable elders and chieftains from Oguta L.G.A.

‘Your Words Mean Nothing’ – Aisha Yesufu Slams Buhari

Published

on

Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, says the words of President Muhammadu Buhari “mean nothing”.

Reacting to the abduction of the students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara State, Yesufu said the primary responsibility of government is to protect lives.

In a strongly worded statement on Friday night, Buhari had warned bandits that he would not fall for threats and blackmail.

He had also said that his government had the capacity to deal with them but has not taken drastic action to prevent a situation where captives are used as shields.

Yesufu said Nigerians are used to a president “whose words are meaningless”.

“What I make of the statement is absolutely nothing. We are used to a president whose words mean nothing. He says one thing, and another thing happens.”

“The body language of President Muhammadu Buhari enables the terrorists. They know that we have an ineffective President and Commander-In-Chief, we have an incompetent one a clueless one, who does not even bother about what is happening in the nation.

“Yesterday we buried seven military officers, the best that we have, the nation was in mourning and the President was a few minutes away from the location of the burial and didn’t even turn up, what does that signify? It Is high time we began to make serious demands on the president.

“It is not in our place to give the way forward. His salaries are being paid for it; his needs are being taken care of. He was voted to give the way forward,” she said.

Yesufu was a strong member of the #Bring Back Our Girls Movement, which was on the frontline of the campaign for the release of students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in 2014.

Up till dates, some of the students are still in captivity.
